Druw, i'm not against melee getting their hat (i'm all for it ), but i really hated it when people used me just for a refresh whore (or in Pandorda's case, a stun whore) just because nobody else wanted to come

(i couldn't blame any other rdm for not wanting to either, it's quite likely they got screwed in similar ways to myself). You want to know why it took me so long to get my hat? "Melee need it more." No fairness, no gratitude when i didn't get my hat, it's all about greed; and greed is what i was attacking.

as i said before, when you find the need to make your run, please make it so everyone who wants one gets one? everything's all gravy when everyone's happy.

It also means they are more likely to go back and help others get there's. I'm sure i'll be making more trips down there once i hit 73+ on my ninja because i make friends and lots of them lvling, crafting, chatting in different LS's meeting people ect.
I'm very rarely known as an asshole when you leave a party with me. the only time i get that rating is when someone isn't doing there job right and i'm going to open my mouth and say something. other then that, i'm just a laid back stonner that enjoys playing the game and meeting new faces. Funny though, at least 90% of the people on my friendlist smoke :/ (no i dont know how many anymore i've lost count of my 4 character friend list) maybe its just a common bond like in rl i guess ^^

Oh yeah, and I can farm myself about 150k an hour soloing, maybe as much as 300k if I get lucky with drops. ~_~ Just because I've never bothered to get an O. Hat doesn't mean I wouldn't jump at the chance if it arose. It's good for skilling up too. Is it something you'd use often as a BLM/WHM/SMN/RDM/BRD/ect? No. Is it something that would be cool to have on the rare occassions it was useful? Yes. WHMs aren't as delicate as everyone seems to think if they actually know what they're doing. While I don't agree at ALL with the OP's or Passion's attitude regarding the issue, I also understand what it's like to go on mission after mission and battle after battle and not see anything for yourself. You do it for friends, or for your LS, but after getting 7 friends + 25 random-people-who-tagged-along-to-'help's hats, I don't think it's unreasonable to at least ask if you can have one. O. Hat is something that would be elite for ANY job under CERTAIN circumstances. Don't just completely blow it off because it happens to have a wider range of uses for you personally.

So are O.hats generaly, your point? most Pickup Ohat runs dont turn out so well, or you're faced with the people who get them and "Gtg" or "disconnect"

I'm not meaning to say you shouldn't get it at all. I apologize for the lack of clarification. I didn't say it's useless for RDM either. And, what about the Shen fight? like Tyrath brought up. Should melee get the Reverend Mail anyway? It's not that you shouldn't get it, it's that there is a priority order.

I apologize again for obviously missing something in this arguement. I just didn't agree with you saying that mage's should have equal priority to melee in O.Hat. yes. Because I am melee, yes, because I need it. Beyond that, I don't have an arguement or point.

Reverand mail is WHM only. I'm sure if melees could equip it they would all want it and probably call WHM greedy for wanting it as well like here.

The entire concept is stupid. Melees need it more so they should get it first? Maybe if I go into work, and my co-worker has a wife and kid and I don't, they should get my paycheck as well because they need it more. It seems to me to not really be about greed but about laziness. Because with Melee always having priority, melee will always get it quickly. The next step is... melees never come along to help with another optical hat. Afterall they "earned" theirs.

Just like so many melees with their god gear given shit because people think it's greedy to not give to the job who needs it most first. Then they leave cause they "earned" it.

So the mages have to repeat the process with all new people, who scoff at the idea of them getting their items first.

Case and point...

How many optical hat runs have you been on Tag? Let me guess... this will be your first?

It's not that you need it so much more, it's that you want to get it on your first run so you don't have to do any more.
