That's right, half of the time the people who get their hat first don't even want to wait to help others who need their hat(even the other melees). So why give priority to anyone when there's no reassurance or trust.

Whats to prevent the Mages from doing the same? Wonder what passions'll do once he has that o.hat, "D/C"? If he wont go now without getting one, why would he ever go back after getting one?

Melee need > Mage ned when it comes to Ohat. End of story.

If you need more ACC than snipers and life belt when skilling up a wep, you are skilling off of the wrong mobs.

Not a thing to prevent it, hence priority is only viable when you have an entire group of people you can rely on and trust like a LS. Even then you can get screwed over, but for small things like OH Runs usually not.

The real problem I have with priority is how far it gets stretched. First because you're a mage it's not that you will get it last that's the problem, but you'll need so so many runs before you'll get it, and the melees are done and will most likely never help again, forcing you to go along with more melees if you want your hat, getting shifted back to the end of the line, again.

Then it gets extreme. You have 2 jobs, 1 of which can use the hat the other not. Your mage job, by request of others, you play more often. And so...

"Let that other guy have first, you never play your melee job anyway."

If you want to talk about need > greed, that's a solid argument actually. That because you have a mage job leveled, you'll rarely play your melee job and don't need the gear as much as the guy who its their only job. It starts to get ridiculous.

Normally, I don't decide which mobs to skillup on. The question becomes more of where I'm going for a specific purpose, and if skillup is available while there. By which case the range for me is basically... wherever I can hit mobs over 0 dmg so skillup works.

Also, I don't know about most, but for me the reason I got my hat was really because I intended at the time to level another job that would use it(which I did). As the expression goes, a bird in the hand's worth two in the bush. I had no reassurances when my ninja was 70 all the people I've ever helped get optical hat are coming to help me. And it's just one less person in future hat runs coming along who is bugging to get their hat as well.

It doesnt matter if you have a mage job or not, just b/c my blm is 75 does not mean im obligated to use it in situations i dont want to use it in.

Im sick of people seing my blm as a liability, once my sam gets to 75 its gona be nothing more then a 2nd option, for i will use SAM in all situations unless it is ABSOLUTLY NEEDED!! whether you like it or not.

Hope everyone who asks for my help is ready for that cus once its 75 you arnt seein my blm anymore unless its for emergencies.

But ya, just b/c i use mage more does not give anyone els priority over my melee. I worked hard to get this far and i, and everyone els in that situation, deserves the same opportunity.

So get used to it
 
Well Melee need optical hat more than mages.Want to know why? Because i think a blm/whm or rdm using optical hat in exp party would be pretty stupid since i doubt that 10 accuracy is gonna make them hit or that 10 evasion is going to make them evade.If you think Optical hat is good for a mage job then don't whine if they sub war either.Hey! they could use some attack also and maybe sub nin and duel wieldzors.Most mages want Optical Hat for the looks and its pretty obvious / well known.While melee on the other hand melee! tada they melee in party they melee in solo and i think party/hnm equip comes before solo stuff does.An Optical Hat always did and always will help a melee DD/ Evasion tank alot more than it would help a mage.If melee could use reverend mail ofcourse they'd be on top of the list n they should be.
 
Btw i'd never forget when that one time a pld lotted on assault jerkin because he thought its good for farming.... and i'm using it till this day for all kinds of stuff.After selling hauby its pretty much what i use as body for my war
 
Personally i hate the way the O-hat looks. If it wasnt so good id never wear it but sadly its by far the best so i must take it.

Id muuuuuch wrather be wearin a mask instead of that thing. But some times its better to feel good then to look good.......

I think the exact opposite way. If it's a put together run, it's pretty much gonna be one day. If you don't get it, you're not gonna have the same people come back for the next go. 75% of the people that get hats won't show again. It's basically a pick up run, no matter how you look at it, and anyone with a cluster should have an equal shot, especially those mage jobs that you NEED for the run, as opposed to those filler melee jobs that could easily be replaced or left out.

If it's a ls run, then need should come first. Equip your players in their best gear first, then help those who helped you get it.

People will convince you to go after the melee's and bank on the chance that the run will take so long they dont have to do it for the mages... which is kinda fucked up..

Kinda stupid to back stab the people you need the most....
 
So in the end this is why i wont do any O-hat runs unless they are LS runs. Not gona get BS'ed into that situation

WHERE has anyone in this ENTIRE thread arguing -for- mage O. Hats EVER SAID THEY WERE FOR EXP SITUATIONS?!?!?!?!?!? Oh, that's right, NOWHERE! Where have any of them said, or really ANYONE said, 'I want an O. Hat because it looks ELITE!' Oh, yeah, again, NOWHERE! Because it looks like a piece of -CRAP.- Anyone who is -actively- doing HNMs will have a End-Game LS to do it with, and will have a crew to get them an O. Hat. Equipping someone for HNMs is a NON-ISSUE here, so don't write that into your retarded excuse for an arguement, kthx. And guess what, NO ONE IS ARGUING THAT A O. HAT IS MORE USEFUL FOR A MAGE THAN IT IS FOR A MELEE! Sure, if melee could use R. I was referring to this post mainly. He mentioned that it was the best. Didn't specifiy skill ups or not.
