Most guys picked Mithras because they do like the idea of Female Cat-humanoids running around half naked vanquishing evil!

Honestly I think most guys that did choose Mithra was for the look mainly but some people do research the stats and what jobs they want to do before they make a character. One of my guy friends did say he picked a female character on every MMO he plays because if he was going to stare at it for 5+ hours a day he didn't want to stare at a guy's butt. I picked Mithra because I wanted to be a kitty girl and their playful nature seemed to fit me. Plus I didn't care for the red haired Humes.

But yah, manthra will never be usable. Nor will a new race ever be usable.
 
We can only hope SE lets us change our character's look or race in the near future. Be it NPC or Quested, it can be done and it will be easy to explain, just like Magic!
