pc problem regarding websites.

when i attempt to go to www.avast.com my browser just simply closes.

interesting enough when i type in avast at ask.com the god damm browser still closes and likewise when i attempt to google it. i have tried this on netscape firefox and ie 7.

any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. and thanks for the help in advance.

Your PC is infected with one of them "viruses" (malware/trojan/etc/whatever people like to call them nowadays) which detect you trying to get antivirus software to remove it.

Try Norton/McAfee/Panda/AVG and I think the results would be the same, it'll close it down.

You'll need to install it from elsewhere other than the internet but it could get tricky.

Boot into Safe Mode w/networking and do it from there.

Check your hosts file.

Winkey+R -> "%systemroot%\drivers\etc\hosts" -> OK -> open with notepad.

if you see a lot of entries followed by 0.0.0.0 (which i'm guessing you will), delete those entries.
