I disagree. Now, if we were paying for this service and were somehow a "consumer" of the qcdn "product" then yes, we have the right to demand a reasonably fast response to our concerns. But this "product" is free, and is also, as stated by the owner himself, a "hobby" of his. Thus, I would say that what we are entitled to is for a response that's leisurely and at the descretion of the owner.

QCDN's new "community" standards were not "our" concerns for the most part if i had to venture a guess i'd say it had something to do with negative connatations attached to the board and lack of sponsorship due to said negative/graphic content, but that's just my guess. I'm sure with the wave of a hand i could be shown to be wrong. But let's keep things in perspective here, were the problems with the community so bad some of them might've popped up to say so .. instead we had a wholesale change in what is and is not allowed with no measures to enforce this changes or provide a clean slate to practice it on. As that relates to this thread; apparently there's rules that aren't on the books, wtf?

Now in order to expedite the process, we are given the ability to call specific things to his attention. Now let's say he's been at work for 10 hours and comes home, only having 15 minutes to stop by and check qcdn before heading out/going to bed/whatever. With our current system, all he has to do is just check PMs to see if anything has been reported, read topic titles, then head out the door.

What you call expiditing i call shirking responsibility. Sculli is not the only person who cleans up around here and admittedly there are many mods who don't have the time to keep up. As a user that's not my problem, if i see someone getting away scott free for a week with something and i see someone else get punished immediately after doing something i'm going to cry fowl, because that's what it is. Put simply if you don't have the time to put in to it why try?

What you are suggesting is for him to take hours/days off to go through and comb through every single thing posted to ensure a set of rules is followed everywhere. Doable? Sure. Expected? I don't think so. Now if you as a "consumer" are doing your part and reporting problems then okay, you're helping the new system. If all you're doing is bitching and moaning that things aren't happening fast enough / well enough for your liking, then that's your fault for not helping out. It's the same with voting. You can't bitch about the elected president if you didn't vote.

What i'm suggesting is that this had been done previous to the change in standards to set some groundwork for what he was trying to do and then took on some people with the free time available to do it and make it work, like a thinking man does.

Doable? sure Expected? if you want to be taken seriously...

Actually this is how i go about reporting problems i have with the community, i take it to them and let them speak on it. I've no need to play shadow games with the report button and be a good little lapdog. I've probably had more input about what goes on around here and better ways to go about it than you've managed stupid responses to things you couldn't possibly understand in my time here, rappa.

As far as voting goes, the only things we got the chances to do that on around here were the oh so well recieved popularity contests Sculli had going. In as many ways as a user around here can i voted for the changes with the expectation they would be handled properly and evenly. However the edict was handed down without any forethought to how it would actually go about being successful aside from 'zomg no flameboard, report button, play nice kids.' Which i feel is a cop out.

Be sure to change your custom title to let every know of your rebellious actions before you do.

Oh yes so rebellious, to want to delete an account from a forum because I don't agree with the rules and the way it's run. Are you completely void of a brain?

Tags sig doesn't enter into it.

The topic here is sculli giving in to something he shouldn't have and making a new rule because some random user got sand in her pussy about something she said.

If she hadn't said it, that would be a different story. Maybe [read: not really]if she hadn't broken rules herself, she might have a leg to stand on. But she shits all over other rules herself, then complains about being quoted, prompting sculli to make a new rule.

Yes, new rule. It wasn't mentioned in the community standards, OR the signature guidlines. If he said it in some obscure post that wasn't marked [read before posting] then that hardly matters. He can't be expected to read everything, and neither can we.

If you agree with what you said, what is the problem? If you don't, appologize, and admit you were wrong. She has done niether of those things. This is an issue that could have easily been resolved if one side could admit she was wrong in saying what she did.

Back to my question. Where is the delete my account button? Or do I have to PM Sculli?

You have to find the 'stfu' button on the keyboard.

in all seriousness, it's been asked before, the only thing you can do is stop posting and let your name fall in to obscurity cos deleting accounts breaks the boards by causing all your posts to default to 'guest'.

Since you can't seem to get away from my genitalia, I'm going to just stop reading your posts and replying to them from this point on. Sorry, I'm not gay and I don't want you thinking about my wang anymore. :nono:

Or more seriously, you're just saying the same crap over and over so I'm not going to argue with a brick wall. Do what you wanna do, I'll do what I wanna do.

Have fun with Big brother. Don't fuck up, or else he might change or add to the rules for you too!

To be honest i'd rather my account was deleted. I know with boards like this it can be done without saying guest. It can still have my name just written as if it was a guest. At least that's what happens at another board I frequent. Then again that board has people moderating it that don't just make stupid rules up all the time.

See, I don't agree with this at all. Basically what you're saying is that the system should be perfect. Everyone should be punished equally in the same way in the same amount of time. As you said yourself, not everyone has time for this. Also, not everyone is the same person. What one moderator might find as offensive and delete/edit, another moderator would just ignore it. Until you clone a human and have only him and his clones moderating, there will be issues wherein someone gets punished for something where someone else didn't. Is it fair? Honestly, yes I'd say it is. Again, it's just a silly little message board. I think you guys are taking this way too seriously.

Actually it's funny that you mention that. Very huge amounts of his current guidelines post are taken verbatim from the GameFAQs/GameSpot Terms of Use. Guess who wrote that? I'll give you a hint, me.

I have no real comment here. I voted for a removal of the Flameboard so I'm attempting to adapt to the changes that are coming about because of it. I think this system is really just now being hammered out and to expect immediate perfection of it is just silly. Give it some time, let the changes propagate, and THEN make a reasonable post about it if you find it not to your liking. BTW, you're the only person who has posted in this topic that I respect the opinion of, because you are wording it in a mature fashion.

... And on that note good night and good bye QCDN. I'll still speak/see the decent people from the boards around in game. I'm only a /tell away if you need me.

Edit - If my account can be deleted that would be a bonus eyethankewe.

Keep sucking Sculli's preverbial dick. Oh wait, was that too harsh?
Actually, it was, especially for someone who has made much drama over never ever posting at QCDN anymore. What ever happened to that, hm?

Regardless, further comments such as the above will lead to access restrictions, perhaps that will help you to stay away since you didn't manage to follow through on your promise on your own.

Sculli acted based on a user's request and because the policy allows for the user to claim harrassment/insult/etc.
Sorry Mokk, but you are wrong about this. Since I am the one who did it, I think I know best why I did it.

If the quoted user requests that the quote in someone elses sig should be removed, then it will be done.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the community standards. I have always taken this action and I will continue to do so, whether it is written down or not. I hope that clears things up.

Mokk said:
IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THIS THREAD AS IT'S A DIRECT RESULT OF A COMMUNITY STANDARD THAT ISN'T A STANDARD AT ALL.
This statement could not be more wrong. Again, asking users to remove quotes has NOTHING to do with community standards. It has always been done, from day 1 at QCDN back on April 3rd 2004.

Dowzer said:
This site was never his, he took control from Pupusa and decided that the "awwww lag was too harsh" so he decided to pay for it himself.

The fact is, this forum never belonged to him.
Dowzer, you are misinformed. I created QCDN on April 3rd 2004. I gave QCDN to Pupusa when I stopped playing FFXI, and got it back when Pupusa didn't have the time to be an active admin anymore.

Honestly folks, get with it or get out of it. You put violations in your signatures, you get banned anywhere else. Deal with it or go away. You want to put that you don't belong here in your sig, you go ahead and do that. Make every one of your posts shout that you really have nothing to contribute to these boards. Do it. The faster you do, the faster you're gone, and good riddance. This is how forums work.

Got it memorized?

No Rappa, you didn't write that. You're CNET's appointee who got added years after those terms were worked out. Don't take credit for what you had nothing to do with.

The point is, the changes would have been better recieved if there had been a mod/admin roundtable, if there had been a more gradual change, and if the reasons for the changes had been more transparent. Honestly, it felt like Sculli had just gone Born-Again Christian and felt this was a crucial step to cleansing his sins.

Instead of a smooth, less chaotic transition to the new QCDN, we had mods stripped of modding with no notice, new mods put in without standards to follow, a 'community guidelines' post that was 90% copy/paste, and rules that seem to be modified and added without notice, and in some cases, without any word that the rule was added.

This has been close to two months of wheel-spinning by Sculli and others that could have been avoided with two or three weeks of foresight, and the ship keeps springing leaks like this that divide the community and make Sculli look like an incompetant admin.

And don't give me the 'hobby' excuse. If you want people to follow your guidelines, put the effort in to enforce those guidelines or find people who share your vision who do.

Barring that, sell the goddamn site and get someone in here who doesn't treat it like that.

Nononono, don't get me wrong i wish i had the balls to ask for that but that's not my gig here. I agree that there should be a standard for everyone, however as sculli and i have talked about some people lend themselves to harsher punishment given how often they make violations and the severity of said violations. All i can comment to is that it seems the moderators for the most part don't have time to moderate. As far as taking things too seriously i couldn't agree with you more.

Actually it's funny that you mention that. Very huge amounts of his current guidelines post are taken verbatim from the GameFAQs/GameSpot Terms of Use. Guess who wrote that? I'll give you a hint, me.

Congratulations, they don't work. Specificly not when a board is set to one speed and then has it's course dramaticly changed with no staging to it. Simply put there were no steps taken to clean the board up aside from 'no FB, here's a report button, play nice' which i touched on my feelings about earlier.

I also welcomed the changes but a smith doesn't make a hammer out of an ingot before hammering on it some first, to make a lame analogy, and that the cart's coming before the horse is a bad bad thing in my eyes. I also don't really feel the need to take things to that next level without the open forum free for all available to me. It's like a boxer fighting in ... a flower shop.

Hey, man, i gave you an out without having to cop to having rules that weren't on the books. If that's the gig great, you might think about adding these 'longstanding rules' that no one knew about to the guidelines and standards so it gives situations like this some credibility in future. As i said previously, it's a bad idea, lends itself to abuse .. but ultimately your call, naturally.
