No, the thread WAS about the quote. If you are keeping up and reading, you'll see that it stopped being about the quote a long time ago. It's now more about the current set of rules. The quote, as stated before, was a catalyst for our current discussion.

And not to stray too far off-topic but... a kid got popular in school for starring in AIR BUD? lolol

Naw, maybe their manthras.

All jokes aside, I said they change schools because their low self esteem can't deal with harsh realities. Same deal here.
Yeah, but there's a difference between friends screwing around, and people who are doing it maliciously.

How much malice can you actually broadcast over the internet? seriously... who takes stuff like that seriously from text on a page?

Disrespect irl i can dig getting pissy about..

Disresepct on the internet .. it's on the internet, go outside some if it gets your bloodpressure up.

The biggest two arguments i see are are this:

Grow up, it's the internet .. assholes lurk, learn to deal.

Grow up, you don't need to be an asshole to make a point.

To the latter arguement i'd make an example of just about every comedian in the past century and further make note that this is, indeed, the internet .. not a daycare of people with low self-esteem and no sense of humor.

It's not hard to take your knocks and move the hell on. It is hard to create an insulary bubble to which no one can knock you in the first place (save being a mute), which is why we have our current situation.

Yeah it is still harrassment, I can understand that. I just can't really grasp that the police would actually take it seriously. Maybe the schoolboard... but still...absolutly hilarious situation.

So using these same lines, why did Eulore get his panties in a twist when told to take it down? If no one takes offense at what other people say, then why did he?

Can't answer that. Not once have i defended what he did to his other posts, while i can understand his reasoning i wouldn't have gone that far. The only one who can speak to that is eulore ... and you can't talk to him here anymore ;)

Ugh, sorry I was so blunt earlier. When I get up in the morning I want to get to get something done, but I'm also cranky for the first couple hours, they don't mix well.

But, I certainly feel something said/wrote/mime'ed in public/Internet can, and probably will be, used by someone later. The Internet still never forgets and the culture of searching won't change, more and more people learn how to do it everyday. It's quick and easy, info at your fingertips, lots of info about everything and anything. Just wait until things like pictures and video with accurate tags that are easy to search become common.

Sculli, the PMs from people about non-technical problems: Have you been get ting some category/type more than others lately? I'm wondering if whatever all those messages are about can somehow be worked out between people before having to go to you to mediate (besides the topic of this thread lol).

Do people generally give it a really good try at working out the problem themselves or do they often seem to go to you rather quickly? It sucks having to deal with stuff like this and if people seem to go to you quickly without trying to deal with it we'll end up having more rule clarification + drama threads.

Wouldn't it be an apt assumption that people working it out between themselves via acting like assbags to each other and bunching up their panties got us where we are now?

So then admin/mods step in and attempt to stave off what is undeniably the caustic nature of modern existance .. and people still go about being assbags with bunched up panties ......

circle of life.

As i said, damned if you do banned if you don't.

I would guess that she didn't even try. But hey, just a guess.

Hmmm.

Is it wrong of me to /sh this quote in jeuno? and Al Zahbi? And whetever other zone windaria happens to be in?

If so, I guess I'm wrong. Her dislike of being harrased shall not only lead to a giant arguement on qcdn, but it's gonna get her harrased even more. I have no record, and I always wanted to see the jail zone...

I was tired of this topic 30 pages ago...hhmm...wait...

And yet, you still felt the need to post?

I'm still waiting for anyone on the other side to tell me how this is any diffrent than editing a post cause someone doesn't like what it says. I could just paste that quote into every post instead of putting in my sig, but I bet that would get deleted.

You know, I probably wouldn't have been so mad/rash if A) Said/Windaria had contacted me herself, and B) Sculli wouldn't have been so angry when I was just trying to see if I could do something that wasn't against the rules.

That's all.

Edit: This will probably be my first, last, and only post with this account here, for obvious reasons. If Sculli would have said a simple "No" or if Windaria had actually tried to contact me, I probably would've just been like
knp.gif
But that obviously wasn't the case.

Meh. QCDN is a shithole anymore. Can I even say Shithole without getting banned? Shithole. Yeah. What now, bitch? o_O

Do I feel like an internet badass? Not really. Am I entertained? Yes.

I guess that makes sense...
But you can't erase something you say or do. You have to take it like it is, and deal with it.

I don't think it really applies to this situation, though. The quote is too rich to ever die out, given the context; gods know I giggled when I saw it.

From some of these posts, it seems people are under the impression they can't quote anyone who said something stupid. That's not accurate. It's just that the source can request that it doesn't appear in sigs and have that request stick. Otherwise, have at it.

There are a couple of people on these boards who would get a similar request from me if one of my quotes appeared in their sigs, no matter what they quoted.

If she's slitting her wrists over this then she needs to step away from the friggin keyboard and get a real fast grip on REALITY. If someone can't laugh at something stupid they've said, or at the very least get over it, then they have some real special mental issues to overcome. And seeing that this isn't a mental health support group, I think this kind of sig-nerfing is really kind of foolish. ...

Understand that I do agree with you to an extent. The sake that she is on a perma-bann state might be the fuel she needs to grasp that sense of reality. There is no denying that I don't like her(or him) much, however I'm far from heartless either. Each person's level of sensativity is going to differ greatly. I'd go so far as to say that for some of qcdn's members, not limiting only to Shaid, this has been some what of a mental health support group. For over 2 years (or longer?) members have come on here and laughed together, cried together, griped together-- and done so daily. Look around this board-- this thread alone-- and take a notice of the numbers on the post counts.

Take a notice to just how many people care about something as minor (And yes it really is MINOR) as the editing of a quote. Do I think the quote was funny? Yes. I have received many laughs from this board on many occassions. The degree of conviction expressed on this thread and others is enough for me to question each person's mental state, but to do so would place my own in question because here I am posting, too.

The power of the written word is phenomenal. Never forget that.

Off-topic. I, and some other posters, try to turn this into a meaningful discussion that will hopefully lead to acceptable results. Off-topic content (even if it is funny) does clutter up this thread.

This is why this board sucks now. If you don't appreciate humor, then I dont even know what to say to you. Its not like deleting off-topic hilarious posts gets you any better content- this thread has been circling itself for twenty pages.

Actually you could probably say the board has been circling itself for the last month. I'm finding myself checking it less and less since general is really a qcdn rules discussion forum. The 'other' site isn't getting much traffic from me either since it's all about this site instead real content.

Such a shitty situation indeed :\

To add to the sig discussion, I think it's shitty that Eulore was treated this way because of what whatshername said, she's a big girl and gave her consent to be posted when she clicked "Submit Reply."
