Recently, Ardenbruk has been trying to uber himself up before continuing to level white mage. He generally likes to come by all the ubering he can get. o_O

To that end, our linkshell has been doing BCNMs to get him things like a magician's earring, Erase scroll, etc.

We decided to try, almost jokingly, the Under Observation BCNM, for the weak chance of an Erase drop. It's not a very good drop rate, but the chance at a peacock charm is almost too good to resist.

The setup was:

Ardenbruk: NIN/WAR
Zosmaa: BST/WHM
Me: RDM/BLM


We pushed onward with two orbs, fully expecting to completely waste them. The first run didn't go very well: I didn't gravity the Sobbing Eye quickly enough, it stripped Arden of his shadows with a Firaga, and we wiped.

The second run went a little better, but was still pretty tough. I know this BC isn't supposed to be rocket science, but it was my and Zosmaa's first time with it ... we won, but by the skin of our teeth. Lo and behold, as I teeter (barely alive) to open the chest, what do we see as the very first drop?

The reaction was almost numbing ... truly unexpected. After the string of rotten luck we've had with drops on BCNMs before this one, I can only say that this was a welcome change of pace.

holy shit! Congratulations on the drop! Question, does treasure hunter make a difference with this? Since it's out of a chest and not technically a drop I was wondering.

I can't say for certain, but my instinct would tell me no. I'd also have to say that thief would be kind of a deadweight in this particular BC ... you really need to have at least two people that can occupy the two normal hecteyes without dying, and one person to distract the Sobbing Eye. That means hurling either shadows or pets at these things.

That, or blast them to bits with three black mages.

Gratz Guys!

Been lucky myself w this, 2/7 or so. Id also recommend that the RDM open with gravity off the bat and running. Then you can peel off the two others, and if sobbing wont get off a firaga since youll be out of range.

But Gratz Ard - best NIN i know, Hes the guy who could make a whm galka sexi.
 
I had almost the same luck as you.. did this bcnm and wiped first time due to just stupid mistakes and not thinking.... went in to get rid of the last orb we had and went 1/2 on the BCNM and 1/1 on PCC. It was truely amazing because I was so low on gil at the time. Anyhow grats
 
Hehe I think everyone has that kind of reaction first time they get PCC to drop.

Guy on my team jokingly threatened to /blist me first time I saw it drop lmao.

What problem were you guys having with this BC though? It's a piece of cake if the bst brings tiger pets and kites the hecteyes.

We have obtained 5 PCC's over about 5-6 months, I would say we are about 5/30, give or take a few. Last PCC drop was on 27% Waning Crescent.

Yeah Dejan and I did this BCNM many times with luck. This is what drove my ass to hunt Argus. Congrats on a very rare drop.

As to that, I'm not quite sure. You can see from the screenshots that we were using Courier Carrie, but I don't think any one of us thought of using a different pet at all.

The source of the trouble (Firaga) in the first run was obvious. The second time, however, I'm not really sure what happened during much of it. I spent at least half of the BC slowly drawing the Sobbing Eye down the path in the opposite direction, and the other half, I was just healing. My recall of the whole fight is kind of cloudy. :/



Those of you hating us for our luck might take heart to note that it is DEFINITELY not a sellers' market for peacock charms at the moment, so I think it's going to be in my bazaar for a long time. T_T

Edana, Mikezon and I got this second orb this weekend with a similar reaction lol. But no deaths :o in 6 runs.

Best pets to use IMO for kiting: Tiger, for melee: Funguar because silence gas is the shiz.

Setup was: RDM/WHM or BLM cant remember lol (kiter), BST/WHM (compound) and NIN/THF xD (compound). We got the charm off the nin/thf orb :o

EDIT: lolGais I took my old sig of him off because Lyrai got butthurt.
