Ridiculous. The rant there is simply ridiculous. Not only can I think of more than a few games where players were introduced to many characters of different races, using Final Fantasy as an example is kind of retarded, especially considering more than half of the races were non-existant ones. Besides that, more people in recent FF games look asian and not english, plus many asians have light skin anyway, excluding some koreans, chinese and etc.

Not saying Id be upset of there were much fewer white people in games, but this is jumping the gun... I couldnt care less if there were NO white people in gaming, personally.

I don't think using Final Fantasy as an example is out of bounds. When was the last time you saw a black person in the series? Barret... and that was more than ten years ago.

If you're in a minority that doesn't turn up in video games that often, I can see why you might get a little annoyed. One of the reasons I liked Bully, The Sims and Clive Barker's Jericho was that they at least recognized gay people existed and let you play how you wanted.

Yeah, he's actually got a grip on what Racism really means. If you're white, defending yourself against another person or ficticious undead person, who happens to be a minority, it isn't racism. The game isn't tell you, the player as Chris Redfield, to go to Africa and ethnically cleanse the country.

And the best part yet, ignoring the fact that the game takes place in Africa, the people playing the race card are pretty blind to the very large, almost guaranteed chance of having a sizable cast of African supporting characters - heroes and villians alike.

No one bitched about Resident Evil 4, where you're playing a white male mowing down Spaniards. No one praised Assassin's Creed, where you're playing an arabic male assigned to kill White conquerers and the men in their pockets.

I guess it's only racism if it's White on Black violence.

Edit: Infact, all representation of Whites in Assassin's Creed, with the exception of Lucy and King Richard, are portrayed as Villians.

Yeah, his rant is on the side of intelligent people who can't believe that someone is bitching about it; but I'm complaining about the idiots who are actually bitching about it. It's like they have absolutely nothing better to do with their lives than to make up racism to "fight against."

yeah I read it, but thats not what Im saying. Im not someone that cares what race I play as in a game, or what race someone is in a movie, or who the lead role is. Maybe its because Im white, or maybe its because I dont care what color skin you have, what your dialect is or etc.

I get just as much enjoyment out of watching african american films as I do white films. But usually when theres an african american film, there is almost never a white character at all in it. Do I care? Nope. Because people are people, not to say the most obvious thing on the planet or anything.

I do understand countries or states with ACTUAL racial problems, but more times than not thats not the case... Its a normal person, most likely NOT opressed, whining for equal rights or better something or other because of their race.

They had Caucasian humans, Caucasian elves, furries, gerbals and grizzly looking characters all represented. There were no blacks. I spoke up about this on the FFXI forums and at least 3 people told me to go back to Africa because this isn’t the real world and there doesn’t need to be any blacks in Final Fantasy.
