This is an odd experience, but I thought I'd go ahead and write this list.
Over the summer, I've done a lot of computer work and browsed QCDN while waiting for things to upload/download/whatever (it may have slowed that down, of course . . .). Anyway, I've come to respect a certain value to the flameboard. I now actually believe in the value of maintaining a good reputation, and it lets me hold my tongue even when I get frustrated.
Does this mean I do things now just so I won't get flamed? No. But it does add another layer of "reality check," and reminds me that it's just other players I'm dealing with, and that they may just be having a bad day, or if they really are malicious, their rep will eventually pay.
Anyway, meanwhile, I've come to respect a few people just through reading flameboard posts, and for pretty varied reasons.
So without further ado, the first three (more as develop):
Karihkinz: There were a set of flames a while back between her group and some coffer-campers in Sea Serpent's Grotto. Not trying to necro that discussion, but Karih really defended herself well. Stayed cool, laughed at the opposition, and pointed out some SOLID contradictions in the opposing arguments. Rate up!
Lyrai: Seems to always be willing to jump to people's defense (and not in a "my friend would never" way), and usually does it firmly and assertively. That kind of passion is a rare find of the sort you can't bazaar in Batallia.
Vang: There's a quote in one of the Harry Potter books about Dumbledore that goes something like, "I haven't always agreed with Dumbledore, but you have to admit, he's got style." I sort of feel this way about Vang. He's unabashedly an asshole to anyone he doesn't care about, and an elitist prick to anyone who's gear or job he doesn't respect, he's turned threads on the Crafter's Corner into flames, but he still throws down some of the hardest STFU on the flameboard, while somehow avoiding the constant "If you're so good, why do you waste your time?" retorts.
There have been other cases, but these three were consistent. I'll add to the list if I come up with more, and I encourage everyone else to post if they've found this experience.
