..Ok, I got the error message that tells me to re-install ffxi, Because SE likes to jerk my chain for shits and giggles I suppose.

Heres my delema, I keep hearing about how when you Uninstall FFXI it corrupts your computer..(Or something close to that.) Can anyone give me some help and tell me how to avoid this ;_;? Sorry if this thread is in the wrong area, but I didnt see anywhere else I could put this.

I wonder is that why my old dell had a hard time booting up the window

well, i don't know tho ; ; there was a topic that talked abou win.ini, and crap

edit: I think thats why they get you, make you play ffxi and thing else, if you want to remove ffxi and not play anymore, they like got mad and mess up your computer lol

edit2: I think if SE really doing that to make to get your money, you can sue them easy lol

edit3: I just got this alienware 3 weeks ago, if I need to uninstall ffxi, I hope it doesn't corrupted my computer ; ; lets just hope it doesn't effect all ffxi player ; ; or else i'm not uninstall ffxi lol

I've had so many problems with getting it i'm starting to think 'Whats the point of reinstalling it... Btw SE is full of money guzzling ass-pirates.

wrong thread.. how'd i get in this one??

Uninstalling FFXI

Alrighty, here's the basic rundown of what has happened:

I don't even know your situation, but my uberz Ms. Cleo powers say you encountered an error during update, and when you went to update a second time, the world ended.

When you install FFXI it puts registry paths to important files in your System32 folder. When you go to uninstall, it will pop up and ask you "Do you want to keep these files or erase?" It is referring to those System32 files. If you click YES then you have just ownd your OS. FFXI's uninstaller is pretty sloppy, and instead of just editing FF's registry values out, it just opts to delete the files completely. If you click NO then you keep your files, but some of them may still need to be replaced.. but at least you can still load to the desktop.

If you have accidentally fried your Windows, post what the situation is and if possible I can try and help with replacing/reloading whatever necessary.

Hope something helps

I have uninstalled FFXI numerous times on my Dells and my Alienwares and none of them are messed up. Numerous times = 4 times each computer (9 computers) because I got fed up with it <.<

There's like 5 threads about this sorta thing already..

Basicly you're boned; backup win.ini and win.cfg and uninstall/reinstall unless the fix that whoever posted at theorderls works, i forget the addy .. search up the recent rash of "ffxi blew up" threads.

Eh, it ended up she was all good after she finished reinstalling. Problem solved I guess.. happy ending! Night Folks, nothing to see here. :3

Save your macros files;
Uninstall Final Fantasy XI and the Expansions
Uninstall PlayOnline Viewer

start > run > regedt32 ****BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING HERE****
delete the old registry files for the game.

restart computer.
reinstall PlayOnline Viewer
reinstall Final Fantasy XI and the Expansions

I never had a problem with FFXI/POL from uninstalling it and then reinstalling it.
