People Searching For Pty, But Wont Take A Blind Invite.

Well.. pretty much everything i would have liked to respond to this thread about has been said by everyone already. Plain and simple, when im lvling a job 10-30ish my search comment reads:

(current exp)/(exp needed for lvl) <Experience Points>
<Blind> <Invite to join party?> =
<No Thanks>

Guess that's about all there is to it. Its common curtesy, its respect of another player. It's simple enough to do. Ask first before sending an invite, and NO that does not mean, you ask then send an invite before you even get a response. Wait for a response, sometimes people can be a tad cought up with something else while they're looking for a party and might be unable to respond to you tell as quick as you would like them to.

Question for Japanese speakers: does [Blind] [Invite] translate to something remotely close to what we're trying to say, or does it come out meaning "Your mom is fat" or some such?  If not, how would you refer to a blind invite using the translator? kthx. :D :D

I do agree with all the posts that blind invites mean inexperienced player, but given my current situation I'll accept any invite I get! But here is what happens: If I see that it is just some guy who needs help with a drop for a quest, that is rude that he/she didn't even ask me, <Goodbye!>
If it is an EXP pt, and I see that subjobs are not lvled, ranks are low, and players are rude or idiots, I disband immediately.

Blind invites in lower lvl places such as the dunes or kazham are actually "OK" for me.....those places are just quick 1-2 hour pts that dont need a whole lot of planning, so its fine by me.

All in all, blind invites are still bad, and it is unfortunate that many people don't understand this.

<That's too bad>

I only accept blinds if: 1) I am desparate :P 2) If I know the person.
This url is an example of me taking a blind from someone I know.
His name = protected.

If I am desparate or know the guy then I at least do a "sea all" on
the guy inviting. If it is a rank1 THF for example well... i decline on
the basis that he is probably unexperienced and probably can't get a pt
so is starting his own. I would tend to think if I joined that example,
I would see the THFs name and my own. (oh joy... let's wait for this
guy to round up 4 more)

I know, I know it isn't always the responsibility of the WHM or RDM
to be the party leader. Somehow I feel safer when one of those two
does the inviting though.

Was soloing PLD a bit in the Highlands waiting for an invite. Got a blind one. Obligatory /checking /tell

>>Me: What's the lowdown?
>>Blind: Making a L15 PT, interested?
Me /thinks I'll see what the PT looks like, then decide to stay or leave
>>Me: Okay
Me accepts the blind invitation
Me /waits
>>Me: Something must be wrong, it's not working
>>Blind: Nevermind, the PT's full
>>Me: ...Don't tell me you sent blind invites to 15 people...
>>Blind: Yah, what's wrong with that?
Me /headpalms and /logoff. That was the last straw for that night.

It's funny seeing what kind of invites I get as BRD...I was level 9 running towards Valkurm(I couldn't solo well, so i gave up, hahah) and I get a blind invite, I just /sea all "Players Name" and see what level they are...Level 15WAR...I was like T.T so I just replied with "Too much of a level difference ˆˆ" and declined.

You all say it is rude to do a blind invite, yet you sit there and insist that everyone who does blind invites are idiots, Thats pretty rude calling someone an idiot who is making a party FOR YOU TO JOIN~!!!!!! You all say that its probally an idiont making a party well I see 1 post that says he ask before making a party all you other people are to lazy to even do it, so next time you dont want blind invites then MAKE YOUR OWN PTY!! People are only tyring to help you out when making a party and inviting you, there not trying to be rude.

First off, we say it's common courtesy to /tell before sending the invite. We didn't say that all ppl who blind invite are idiots, just that the majority are.

Second off, you aren't holding up your end of the argument very well. You simply called us lazy and told us to make our own pt. I got a better idea, why don't you just simply /tell someone before sending an invite? It's not that fucking hard dude. /sea inv ??-?? all, /tell Soandso>> [Party] [Someplace]?, Soandso> OK, [Thank you.], invite. Myabe instead of making your own parties you should try seeking and see what happens once in a while when you start accepting blind invites.

Third off, we can call anyone an idiot at any time of any day for any reason. I don't need your blind invite idiot:-P

Ummm yeah. I think this thread has already covered the what will happen the next time we get a blind invite.... we wont join yours! Seriously, this is a big pet peeve of mine. The Majority disagrees with one person. Instead of that one person either a)accepting that there is not an agreement or b) possibly accepting that they could be wrong, they instead call the majority names. nice.

And to add something else: I do not think people are idiots for sending a blind invites, it's just my experience that they usually just happen to be that way.

I'm not Japanese but I can answer this question ...

[Blind] [Invite] = [No, thanks] ... exactly what I use in my experience party search section and yes they do understand it ...

You know..I really think they should allow you to /check from any point in an area...It is annoying getting an invite by someone who is wearing Lizard Gear in Kazham second jungle...because then you know NOT to accept it...

Besides, what is faster?
This:
Mrpie invite you
You accept
Say Hello
You look at party stats
You don't like the setup
You then have to explain why you are leaving
You disband
You get a /tell from someone in the party
Imaflamer>> WTF! WHY DID U LEV? U A PU55Y!?
Get into a long arguement with Imaflamer and thus wasting more time...

OR THIS:
>>You: Party? Valkurm Dunes.
You>> What is party setup?
>>You BLM/WHM, WHM/BLM, BRD/WHM, DRK/WAR, PLD/WAR
You>> Ok!
Mrpie invites You
You accepts
Everyone in the party starts fighting and have a happy fun time and is happily ever after...THE END

Codyf ... see that is a problem with using blanket statements like
"You all do .... " I've read through all of this and didn't see it. We all are
making good points. Even you do. Of course I have to dig to find it but
you do make a slightly good point. You gave your opinion about the
subject and we all are simply responding to it.

Since you use the blanket statement "You all..." then you MUST mean me
too. So let me defend myself...

You all say it is rude to do a blind invite =============================================
Yes, I do. However it is not as rude as belching at the dinner table but
is is a slight Faux Paux none-the-less.

you sit there and insist that everyone who does blind invites are idiots =============================================
I never said Idiots. Therefore this global statement is unfounded.
I suggested that they may be new to the game and thus might waste
my time. I personally feel I would be gambling to accept.

You all say that its probally an idiont making a party well I see 1 post that says he ask before making a party all you other people are to lazy to even do it, so next time you dont want blind invites then MAKE YOUR OWN PTY!! ==============================================
Not sure where you went with this one.... >:)

People are only tyring to help you out when making a party and inviting you, there not trying to be rude. ==============================================
I agree. They are not INTENTIONALLY being rude. However it is viewed
as such by most.

This was not a flame but I am trying to set you straight on this. You may
agree or disagree. Just like I may ACCEPT the party INVITE or NOT.
That is the beauty of free will.

There are 5000+ people on our server. So don't worry about it. There
are enough people PROBABLY who really don't care and would gladly
accept the blind invite. So why are you worried / ranting?

anyway that is just my 2gil.

Part of the reason I quit was the abundance of blind invites.
Not in Valkurm dunes. I will occasionally accept one of those begrudgingly...

50-55 I had recieved a blind invite almost every time I put my flag up.
What the hell is wrong with some people? 50 levels and a genkai later, and people still don't know it's bad form? Especially now, when there are more variables that go into making a party.

A while ago, as 55 WHM, I logged in for a minute to check the AH.
During this time, not anon, I got a blind invite, not even seeking (From someone on my blist who I took off in preperation to sell my account. Maybe I'll get around to that someday soon. >_>)

Moral of the story is: It's not a smart thing to do, not even remotely a good thing, and shows bad party formation tendencies. People may not know this in the dunes, but after that, there's no excuse. If you do it, don't be surprised if people lump you in with the bad players. I would.

lol im glad that i finally made a post on the flameboard, it was fun arguing with you people the whole purpose of this was to see how many replies i could receive thank you all for replying see you around :)

you know i had a really good tell to me in the dunes today....my bazaar statement says "no blind invites you noob"
i get someone that comes by, checks me, and says "who u callin noob"
<me> huh?
<idiot>your comment. ..your the noob.
<me> whatever
<idiot>i have a 35 nin
<me>big deal (i rant off the lvl and jobs i have)
<idiot>oh wow....well you dont need to be calling noobs because they blind invite
<me> only the noobs that know they are who im talking about will have their feelings hurt by my comment

I'm not Japanese but I can answer this question ...

[Blind] [Invite] = [No, thanks] ... exactly what I use in my experience party search section and yes they do understand it ...

hmmm to the origional question... it wouldn't make any sense in japanese really... "blind" is translated as the spell name which is written in katakana to sound like the english word (ブライン) and (invite to join party) is translated as (パーティに誘う) which means "to invite to a 'party' ". so... literal translation would be " 'blind' to invite into a pt" where the word 'blind' doesn't actually mean anything in japanese. that said... knowing the effects ot the spell blind on a target might allow a japanese player to understand what the comment ment. however, i have never, ever, been given a blind invite by a japanese player, so Kat's experiance might be due to the fact that most japanese players follow an ediquette whether they are new players or not.

reasons not to accept/send a blind invite:

1. there are many reasons to be invited to a pt... someone sent me a blind invite on my thf to help them get a carby's ruby for the smn quest... without sending a /tell first people do not know your purpose.

2. it allows someone to say no, rather then go in and say "hmmm sorry, lvl gap is too big..." or "i am sorry, i don't like playing with X job" and then leave. by establishing a dialouge in tells before sending the invite you insure that those you do invite are committed to the group.

i realize i am just laboring the points that others have made already... but it is important to inform those who you invite of what they are getting themselves into, and as you see many people consider it rude.
