Would it be wrong to start making a list of those who have server migrated? More often than not people server migrated ... I.E. Shaunnesy to escape this server to make a new fresh start on another server. So my assumption is MOST people make that jump to this server to try to make a fresh start on this server.... Other reasons im sure are for friends, etc etc.

ANyways back to my point of this thread..

Would it be wrong to list people who have suddenly jumped to this server? That way we can be more cautious about them, or at least we know if they are good or bad people? Quetz has a longstanding group of people... Most of whom know if a person is good or bad. Should we get a head start on the "Noobs" of our servers?

I'll ready the firing squads at the Concen--- er... Welcome Camps

The officials in Windurst already have plans to sequester part of Windurst Waters as "Little Sylph." I've also heard rumors of certain nationalities being forced into a "Bismarcktown," in Bastok.

This seems a little... unnecessary. There's no need to bring out the pitchforks for people who wanted to come to another server. Wait until they screw up and make their way onto the flameboard by natural causes rather than persecute everyone.

i've already partied with 1 server deserter. they're out there.....

From your post you seem like one of these "noobs" and maybe consider transferring off yourself?

This game would be a lot better if people just... I dunno, minded their own business short of someone stealing an entire LS bank.

I dont know about you sir, but if a Chasym(no offense dude), a Neolink, or a Queenandariel came to Quetz i would like to know. We already have to contend with RMT as any other server, why not point out dickheads? And yes i consider many people that react as those banned "Noobs" because they dont deserve a better title.

I know for a fact that Shaunessy, and Neolink both moved to asura.... I personally wouldn't like to deal with either. And personally if i knew anyone on asura, i would tell them to steer clear of either or. This is used as a possible watch out Yellow pages, not a OMG I HATE ALL OF THE SERVER TRANSFERERS.

And edit* I'm sure you would like others to know if an entire linkshell MPK'ed you at kirin. Bullshit if you say no.

Our rats are jumping ship, there's no reason to think that others aren't doing the same thing and coming here. I'd rather know of if idiots to the caliber of shaunessy and neolink came to the server, it'd stop people from being bothered/hurt by them and it'd teach them they can't just run from the problems they created themselves when they get blackballed by yet another server.

It shouldn't be a witch hunt by assuming that everyone who transfers is a loser who wanted to leave their reputation behind; but a fair number of them will be and those who did should be made public. Hopefully there wouldn't be anyone at all on the list, but those few bad apples who come over should be known.

Thanks for deciphering it. this is what i was getting at rather than a complete list of everyone as Ghost made it sound like.

I think this creates for an awfully unwarming welcome to the legit ones who moved to Quetz strictly because of our outstanding self-sufficient community here.

QCDN is well known and perused by a number of non-Quetzalcoatl players.

I agree with Rappa - if they are born to screw up, let them screw up and get torn to pieces by the pro's on the Flameboard like anyone should.

Maybe some of the migraters are people who have realized the err of their ways and can't escape it on their homeland. Give them a clean slate, a second chance. If they should teeter on the edge of humiliation then rest assured we will push them off that ledge when the evidence presents itself.

I am expecting a few people myself from Leviathan - a member of PheonixPimps used to play on their with his original character (and still goes back occasionally) and are migrating here just to be around him and the rest of us.

There are far more negative reasons to leave one server for another over positive ones, and quite frankly anyone who migrates should be looked at with a bit more scrutiny.

Migration was a bad idea for everyone except Square, who all but gave the drizzling shit of every server a chance to wipe out their bad reputations for the low low price of $25. Hell, if you plan it right, you even get a new name out of the deal too. There's already stories of people running off with KClubs, LS banks, and everything else.

I think that's a testament to the stupidity of the people trusting these random unknown new users than anything... or is there some epiphanic detail I'm missing?

People from their OLD server saying "XYZ migrated with these items, may have changed name" and the like. It's basically a free pass to steal away into the night with ill-gotten gains and be nearly untraceable.

Honestly though, if people wish to transfer to new servers for a fresh start, why not just let them have a fresh new start? Let the new servers worry about them, and us worry about our server. It's not our responsibilty to worry about all the servers.

Don't you think it's only fair to let those people have a second chance too? Everyone deserves to have another chance, and even if they do screw things up like they always have, then it doesn't concern us anymore? You can only run away so much too until it's time your caught up to or given up.

Like some have already said here, I wouldn't worry about it too much, and it's nice and all to worry about other communities too, but you have to start worrying about your own community first.

I think a lot more people are using the server transfers as a way to hook up with people they are friends with on other servers than trying to escape bad reputations. People who quit the game are coming back in droves because they can switch to the same server as real life friends without having to start over.

It's really dumb to shove someone up against the wall "ARE YOU OR HAVE YOU EVER BEEN A MEMBER OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY?" Just because they transferred in.

Hell Cubs, you were debating going to Midgarsormr on a certain other forum. Would you like to be looked at like that if you did transfer? Of course there are going to be morons, but that just means you should be careful when loaning things to people you met less than a month ago.

No. Who's to say that person isn't going to have a 'fresh start' for the next 90 days, then repeat their old behavior and server jump once the cooldown period ends? Unless you're jumping for a very specific purpose (To Quetz to be in TheFlock, I guess, or to Midgard to be in the goon LS, Bahamut to apply for BG) and you can prove that's why you jumped I see absolutely no reason to trust those that migrate.

If you do, go ahead and send me a million gil and 7 of your most valuable items. I promise I won't migrate once the transfers are back up.

Like I said above, that kind of move would involve a paper trail and I'd have a LS waiting for me.

Right, but these people will be found out. People are already tracking the bad players who left their servers and informing their new servers about it. Look, it's happening on qcdn already with people stalking those who left us. I'm sure that at least on other sites like BG that these troublemakers will be revealed.

In the meantime, common sense will prevail. Let's say someone comes to quetz who is a troublemaker. What's the worst they can do really? If they apply to an end-game ls and absolutely on one in the ls knows who they are, then obviously that shell will be cautious and either not recruit them or otherwise keep a really close eye on them. Other than that, they can just try to take advantage of individuals and that's going to happen to the guillible of the game regardless of whether or not we stalk them here.

Will they get found out? It's easy to get a new name when you transfer, and laying low in pickup parties for a month or 2 on whatever server should be more than enough to blend in with a server's population.
