Seriously, you people need to shut the fuck up. I'm tired of trying to have a conversation with someone and because you've lost interesst in the topic throw in your all-worthless 2 cents of "Can we please close this topic?"

Here's a clue, asshole... If you don't like the topic, quit reading. All you're doing it topping it more. Unless you're a board admin, nobody made you king or queen of the messageboard. If you don't like the topic, don't click on it.

/em shuts the door. Bajeez.

But in all truth, the only thread that I have really asked to go in and get closed was the thread about Yosh bitching that he wasnt getting healed by his CC. The reason I did it was because it was getting ridiculous, and people were just making asses out of themselves. Sure, I could have just stopped going there, but nonetheless that doesnt stop the idiocy from propagating. I may not like the topic, that may not even be the point, but it just irks me to watch people make asses out of themselves. Espescially, in movies, if gets to awkward I have to walk away because I know I can't change the situation. Eventually, I just did leave that forum, because it didn't help. At the point where it becomes a collective /sigh of this is retarded maybe it should be.

I may not be the heaven mandated board ruler, but that seriously has nothing to do with it, people want shit closed for their own reasons just like you want to continue talking for your own reasons. Take each of those by the merit inherent, nothing else.

If you aren't capabale of having a discussion without flaming and the occasional insult, you'd better have it on the flameboards. Otherwise people are going to have a problem with it, and say as much.

You know what else? They got every right to. Does it really suck so much you're asked by people to follow the rules?

When I'm flaming people, I'll flame them. But I can have an honest discussion on the general board that some people might inadvertandly find offensive. Am I honestly so subtle of a person you can't tell the difference between when I'm trying to piss people off or not?

I agree with Fire. People click these links almost expecting to be pissed off. Sometimes I wonder if they have some innate love of being pissed off.

Honestly, if you are not part of the discussion, or decided to withdraw from it, don't click the link. It doesn't beg you to click it. It's there, you know it'll irritate you, don't click it. Who gives a shit about what YOUR reasons for wanting it locked are? If you really hate it so much, DON'T READ IT! Lock it to yourself by using something called restraint. People in the topic will appreciate it when you don't derail their topic with bitching and moaning about locking it.

Oh, and like Fire I believe said himself, everytime you make a post bitching about the thread itself, you are only prolonging it's life on the first page.

Whatever, go fuck yourself with a rusty pipe. People can post whatever they want to. Nobody made you the queen of these messageboards either. If you think a post is worthless just don't reply to it. I don't see how someone who preaches the stereotypical "You don't have to read this if you don't want to!" internet bullshit can start a whole new topic rather than just follow his own advice and ignore posts that he isn't interested in reading.

Simple Rappa. It's easy enough just to not read a topic you've lost interest in. It's very, very, obnoxious for some moron to jump in on it and tell you all to stop talking.

It's like having a conversation with your friends and some random asshole butting in and telling you to stop talking cause it's boring you. Well guess what? They don't have to listen to your conversation. And while it's perfectly fine for someone to be bored with it, just jumping in and interuping people with it is interupting them.

Bah... stupid bold...

By the way, why is it always the stupid dickheads who think it's cool to have a shout conversation over Jeuno that find it inapropriate to have a conversation that bores them on a messageboard?

Hmmm... When I"m having a conversation with a friend I don't want some random asshole butting in period. I really wouldn't care what he had to say, I'd be pissed if he butted in on my conversation period.

On the flameboard however its kinda differnt. You don't post on the flame board to have a 1 to 1 discussion, you post here to have and all out discussion among others. Its like speaking to a group, people don't butt in here because if they are on the boards then your speaking to them.

They may go "off topic" but then so does almost every post posted on this board.

Does it matter where? Its a board, its not private. I dunno, does it matter? If you don't want people to butt in use PM's or tells.

Whats everybodys opinion?

Sometimes I go overboard having someone tell me to shut up prob is a good thing when that happens.

A town hall meeting is a public forum as well, what would you think if some 12 year old came to it and halfway through shouting "Hey this zoning crap is boring me, let's talk about something else!"
Sure it's a public forum, and everyone has their right to throw their two cents down, I'm just saying... if your two cents is, "everyone stop talking about it", keep it to yourself. If it bores you, fuck off.

Now, Darkdante there is a distinction if you tell one specific person to shut up. Like as you said, if you tend to overboard and if you saying something retarded it's not a bad thing you get told to shut up. I'm talking about when someone with no reason just jumps in and tells EVERYONE to shut up. Because they want a still active topic to die.
I don't even understand it. It's not topping an old topic, it's a still active thread. And often, many people on the board haven't even logged on to read it yet. And you think you can just close the book on it cause you personally have become bored with it? That's really obnoxious.

I should have added that for the record:
They were on topic
It was in General Discussion
There was no Flaming
The topic was still active
A few others were in the discussion as well

Thats a terrible example I'm sorry. There is so much obvious bias in the analogy.....make an objective analogy, its the only way to actually have constructive discourse. Of course no one likes a stupid 12 year old who voices a worthless opinion. Yet, not everyone is a twelve year old, and this being a public forum it is more than acceptable for someone to say "This thread is ridiculous, just stop it". You may be having a specific conversation with one person, but everyone can read it, and its open to criticism. Don't play the "Dont click on the topic card either" of course people browsing a forum are going to click on topics and read them, espescially on the flameboards because it isnt overly specific like the AH section.

Don't bother arguing with him Mattaru, he's always right. Anyway, yesterday was a craptacular day for me so my posting was affected by it too. I'm in much better spirits today so I'm just not going to get involved with any of this junk.

My experience in game with Fire has never been bad so I respect him in that sense, and I'm glad to argue. If nothing else it gets the brain moving, unless like many online debating everything just becomes unresponsive and convoluted (sometimes due solely to the medium used).

Understandable. I love arguing too, but I just hate doing so against someone who won't really accept anything you say. But more power to ya either way.

I'm not always right but you'd be surprised how often people call me a dick for what I say here than 2 months later I get a /tell from them in game saying they thought long and hard and it turns out I was right.
Let's face it. We were talking. The topic was no where near dead. You came on and acted obnoxious. The disccusion still goes on.

I'd like to point out you're not the only one who does this. You just set me off with it. It's one of the most obnoxious things I can find because usually the people doing it(not you in this face admittedly) don't even understand what's being discussed.
