I've been toying around with the spell Phalanx ever since I have bought it...and people say it's so great, but i'm not seeing much of a difference with it on...

First time I got it, thought it was like an ordinary spell, didn't know it stacked, only saw 1 damage difference, 2 if i'm lucky...

Got told it stacks, So i'm like, YAY, maybe some difference... So I stack the thing about 30 times, go up to an EP, and it is hitting me for what it usually does, 20-30 damage. No difference at all, i'm confused...

Tested it out again today, stacked it AS the mob was hitting me, the damage went like this:

27, 25, 27, 23, 20, 17, 17, 0, 15, 14, 0, 2, 3, 0, 15, 0, 0, 0, 0, 20, 1, 4, 3, 3, 0, 2, 0, 23(not a critical), 20, 15, 17, 25, 20, 0, 21(Phalanx is still on at this point).

So please tell me how this phalanx works _(._.)_
 
use it with stoneskin and it makes stoneskin last longer, ive never heard it stacks though.
 
Phalanx = 1 dmg reduce per 10 levels of enhancing.

Makes stoneskin last a multitude longer.


Doesn't stack.
 
Depending on ur enhancing skill you'll see a varity of dmg taken. At lvl 69 it reduces anywehre from 20-30 dmg, which is huge. It was worth the buy, just wait till later and it'll help a lot.
 
Phalanx is pretty much useless at lower levels since yoru enhancign magic skill is so low. However, later on it's a godsend. it helps more then you believe and makes soloing a easy pray not much harder then a too weak rabbit in east ronfaure. The only real difference is that it takes a bit longer.

the secret is to have stoneskin and phalanx up since one does not work as well without the other. This way you'll save a lot of MP and time.

And whoever said it stacks with itself is a big fat lier -.- have you ever seen Utsusemi stack? or blink? or stoneskin? =/ or any other magic spell at that?
 
i think this is the formula for phalanx: (Enhancing / 7.5) -10
