Phantasy Star Universe Online Beta

october or november?

It's october. Sadly the PS2/PC version are still far away.

The thing about PSO is that it's just mindless fun. The battle system was kinda lame but it just good fun to play with friends or complete strangers.
I was a dreamcast player and got a good expierence before all the cracks and assholes (haha cracks and assholes) took over the game.

hey guys, repetition in an RPG? NO FUCKING WAY!!!!!!

yeah but the repeativeness in this one is just so bland, they dont even try to change it up or make you get into it at all. it blows. and it blow hard. the lag is insanely bad even on the one star servers.
and the missions are boring as all get up.
and the freezing every time you try to zone will never see my money. ever.

Hmm seems like the people that played pso love it while the ones that haven't hate it. They probably don't understand eveything involved with pso. Like yesterday I was playing with 5 others I asked who was playing as a Ranger, the idiot playing as the ranger laugh and said wtf. I had a twin gun that I was going to give him but fuck it.
i played pso, and have partied on the beta with PSO fanatics.
we all have one thing in common.
we agree.
this sucks.

Maybe I'm wrong about this but with all xbox games I've ever played the more stars there are in connection speed the better the connection is. I've been playing it on 5 star servers and I have only lag spikes, most of the time it was running pretty well though.

I am sure the majority of people that come to this site have played RPG's, enjoy Rpg's, and probably play and enjoy MMO's. Certain games make the repetivness less obvious through story line, broad classes, making how each class interats a little different, battle system, different activities people can partake in, etc. People, including myself, find this one to be boring. I am not trying to keep people from playing because there are people out there that will enjoy it. I personally do not. If all you needed for a good mmo or Rpg was repetition than OMG all RPG's and MMO's would be a 10 amirite?

Gamestop says all of the versions are shipping on the same date.

Either way, Odon I and some other old FFXI friends of mine are all getting it, maybe we'll like it, maybe we won't. All I know is if Sega didn't really bump up the programming skill of their dev's this game won't last a year without being completely compromised.

Not that I don't like that, though, considering I was one of the forerunners in PSO h4x1n

This is where I get confused. The date I originally thought it was from 1up.com http://www.1up.com/do/search?st=phantasy star universe
They say the release date for PSO is 4/20/07, which seems kinda crazy to release it so far away. I remember reading somewhere that the PS2/PC versions would be coming out later but I cannot confirm or remember where I read that. If you look at all the major news and online stores you'll see them all formats released on the same day. This could be considered a good thing. However, where is the beta test for the PC version and the PS2 version? It seems strange how they'd only test one format without testing the others considering they are all shipping on 10/24.

EDIT: Found this on the FAQ for PSU on the official website
Q: What is the deal with the Xbox Live Marketplace Beta? Is there a PS2 or PC Open Beta?(2-9)

A: The Xbox Live beta is a demo version we have available for Xbox Gold users, on the Xbox Marketplace. Please consult the Xbox FAQ for more information.
Unfortunately, we do not have a similar option for PC and PS2 users.

in this game i believe each star represents how many are on the server, like 5 stars is a near full or full server
and one star is less people.
the lag was the same on all servers.
when people walk around near you they dont look like they are walking, they "Skate" by or just jump 50 feet away instantly.
it doesnt feel like a step up from PSO, but just a graphical change and thats it...and that was barley changed itself

After a boring day of next-gen ruins aka block C, I hit level 10. Was able to finally buy a real gun from a store, you know since nothing ever goddamn drops except craftables.

Went down to try "Forest 1"... new gun runs out of ammo by the third wave, other weapons do jackshit for damage.

Whoever said the netcode sucks is right. Why are people skating and combat laggy as hell?

The enemy AI can be exploited worst then PSO. Sure monsters can go pass doors but after a certain range they will despawn. It's really easy to get a herd of monsters under control down to one or two to beat up. If you get a room with some kind of protruding corner they will get stuck on that for even easier kills.

A guy who plays on the JPN PS2 version says he can't believe how buggy and shitty the 360 beta is going. He claims other then lag there aren't any of these show stopping bugs.

I'm going to be passing on this one. I may buy it used later for the single player experience as I hear it's quite good but not really worth full price.
