Did anyone pick this up yet? If so, any comments on it?

I was thinkin about buyin it today, but id like to see some review from other MMO'ers before i spend 50 bucks on it.

Thank you

played the week long beta test, which is the same as the retail.
it sucks completley. lots of bugs, Servers lag WAY too much and they dont even try to hide the repeatetiveness and make it look fun.

You might want to pick this up for the single player, but wait for the reviews on that. However, the online play is the same as PSO's was, just with better, more inventive controlls.

it doesn't get shipped here until thursday.

Which would explain why i didnt see it at best-buy, wal-mart, or gamestop... haha

A friend of mine is going to buy it and see if it still has the bugs everyone is talking about. ;p Until then, school work (college group projects --; ) and limited FFXI.

I expect that once it actually costs money to play online that a lot of the problems will go away. During the beta, ANYONE with XBL could play. This obviously lead to countless people just downloading it for a way to kill time, and these idiots won't be on the actual servers.

Assuming Sega learned from the beta and spent this last bit of time tinkering w/ the servers, things should be nice for the retail. Fewer 'tards, less congestion, bug fixes, win. I dunno how much I'll play though, honestly, got bored after a while. Didn't have the old PSO magic.

When it was released in Japan, Kurei got it and on the first few days he said PSU is <Too weak>.

Now it's been over a month since Kurei has logged into FFXI, and the rest of the LS assumes he is playing PSU. If this is true or not has yet to be confirmed.

Now i don't want to rain on anyones parade. But for the sake of life and those who care about you, it's not a good idea to get into another MMORPG. Save the money for a Revolution game instead ?

well my lil bro got it, set up the account and said he wished he woulda listened to me. he can be stubborn and thought i was BS'n him cause i didnt like PSO, but yeah. retail is just as bad as i expected!
GL!

Thats true. I dont even play THIS game as much as I'd like to, and with XII comin out next week, i guess ill just hold off and see if PSU gets its shit worked out. I played PSO for a short period of time, but enjoyed it. That could also be because it was who i lost my MMO virginity to though.

I got this today, and was playing till I got booted from Sega's servers in a bout of release day stress. Think of PSU as PSO EP III. It strays very little from PSO core gameplay, right down to a forest entry mission, arena/corridor map layouts w/ locked gates and waves of spawning enemies. Some of the arenas in PSU are a lot larger than PSO's, so in that respect, it doesn't always feel like you're simply mopping up room after room, but really, you are. But then, that's what worked in PSO, and if you're interested in PSU, you probably enjoyed PSO, so you should be glad it didn't try to fix what wasn't broken.

I've been hanging around universe 7, and my character is a newman named Pompidou. You should recognize me. I'm short, with blue hair styled into a short ponytail - same as in XI. My ears stick straight out like a taru as well. At the moment I'm level 4 but will ding soon. Hope to see some of you.

I was having problems all day yesterday registering. Sega never could make a good guess on how many people would be acessing the site.

I played PSO for 3 years before I came to FFXI. PSU will probably be played for a good month before I start up FFXI again. Also playing .hack/G.U. will keep me away..

I am excited about PSU and the things we will find while playing it. I played a little offline mode - the characters have personality now. (PSO there was little to none.) and the new special attacks rock. I like being able to swap to hand gun when I want to run from enemies, and then pull out a large sword on the fly when they are close together.

I was definitly looking for a break from FFXI - hopefully PSU can supply me with my need to kill things.

well I finally got a account registered and got confirmation, when I try to log into palysega.com I get this

Email Address or Password is not correct, or your account has not been activated

Crap like this makes me not want to play online. Atleast with SE/FFXI when you first got were able to register and play online the first day....:irked:

I haven't gotten a copy of PSU yet.
I heard from a good friend of mine that the offline version is pretty interesting so far.

As for online, he didn't get to try it because of some preliminary maintenance that was going on.

I'm getting my copy today at lunch, any of you that bought yesterday or today have any scouting on how sold out it is if at all? I had it pre ordered but apparently my gamestop lost the file.

Couldn't find a PC copy anywhere. Xbox360 onry.

FYI, the servers are all seperate, there is no interplatform play. Xbox with Xbox only, Ps2 with Ps2 only, PC with PC only.

They specifically said PS2 can play with PC.

I found a PS2 one at my gamestop, though.

edit:

Will users on different platforms be able to play with one another?(2-10)
PS2 users and PC users will be sharing servers, so they'll be able to play with each other. Xbox 360 users will have to be on their own servers; we tried to make it really easy for Xbox 360 users by having everything available through Marketplace, but in order to do that, we were unable to allow cross-platform play with PC and PS2.
