Photoshop help/request

Since i'm so stupid w/ photoshop I am asking someone here who has basic knowledge to do this. I can't do this myself because i dont know how and well i don't have photoshop at my house to experiment with ( typing this at school btw) so can someone please combine these two images into one layer so it looks like one picture and tell me how you did it. sorry and yes... i'm that stupid. i need this doen for a school project so please help me >.<

How do you want them arranged? What color is the background supposed to be? How large do you want the final picture to be?
 
first picture is the back ground, it can stay as it is final picture should be about 5 inches long 3 inches high ish and for future refrence how do you resize an already made image?

Are you asking people to do your schoolwork?

As for resizing an image you can do that in any image program, just find the option to resize (Under edit usually)

To work with photoshop here is what i recommend you do.

Copy picture one into a new canvas. Create a new canvas, copy picture 2 into that. WHEN YOU CREATE THE CANVAS, make sure to set it so the background is transparent not white. Now you have 2 separate windows. Use the eraser (You can adjust its size and style with the brushes tab on the bar on the top of the screen) to delete anything you dont want. When you are satisfied go to select-> all. Now copy. Paste into the canvas with your background image. It will be on its own layer!

When you are done go to layers-> merge visible and save it as a J-peg to reduce file size and make it internet friendly.

Edit: jaz beat me to it. Notice how the background's quality is not great because it had to be enlarged. Try to get a larger version of the BG image next time =)
 
thanks guys i'm trying to get photoshop at my house so i can learn to do this crap myself but i'm also trying to get some multimedia editing programs first so meh and yes this is schoolwork sorry but not even out "photoshop class" knew how to do this -_-

Ouch, is it a class with "Remington College" or any of it's afilliates by any chance? XD
 
that ones so easy its rediculous. since it has nice hard borders, its pretty much using the magic wand tool for most if not all of it...cut, then paste onto the other BG

I was just mocking my old "college" that I went to for a short time anyway, the classes/books there were so pathetic that I wound up tutoring in some of them to help the teachers out when I wasn't playing around with roms in class XD

I've had the Earthbound (Mr.Saturn) font since like '96, I can send it to ya if you like

Edit: I sent it anyway, with short instructions on how to install a font, just in case :P
