Phraust vs. Comcast Part 1:

fixing the problem would be nice~!

i think i would tell them you appreciate the response, however, until the problem is fixed, you will be looking for another ISP. If necessary ~ u will switch to satellite... either you will get all your money back, or they will fix it for ya =^_^= (assuming what the comcast guy above says is true)

errr comcast bought out att broadband down there... so TX is ALL comcast now or very soon :|

This is a non true statement. TX is a very big state filled with many options. There are many choices you can make here without using Comcast or At&t (Comcast now too basically). You have Cable One, my provider for 3 years and I've only had 2 hours in that time period where I've been w/o internet. This excludes power outages etc., Burch Telecom, Yahoo SBC for DSL, Verizon (the major provider here in the metroplex), and MANY other local companies that vary by town. Little to no one I know use Comcast or At&t anymore because of the same issues as Phaust has stated...they just flat out suck and don't give a shit about customers. They think "Meh, so we lost a few...We gained a few also...no big loss." While that may be true most otehr companies don't use that train of thought. For the majority of companies every one matters, though in some cases they shouldn't :o

but but i love u strid :(

as many of u know, connections vary from area to area. i have TW cable. i had it in tampa when i lived there and had average speeds of 300-500. i moved over to orlando and got tw cable again and now my speeds average 500-1gig. the question about alot of the issues is "wtf is causing this" thats a toughie. i used to work for aohell and i would get people with the similar issues. the big issues where the ones that had issues with DSL only during certain times of the day. to test that, the tech would have to be there at a specific time to see the issue. alot of times, it would be caused by something in the house/area that would activate during those times

Looks like one market was locked at a 6mb connection and the other was locked at 10mb.

No the vans and the truck didn't fix my connection. If anything. It got worse...

Fuck...

I got a Tech on his way to my house atm.

Jesus Christ man! Just go on a binge postal fest and take care of them once and for all!!!!!

I would be yelling at these fool while at work and fired for my foul mouth!

The tech has come and gone...

My connection is still broken.

I haven't had a stable connection since the 3rd of April.

Comcast can suck my cock.

I really am trying to be a nice, understanding and patient person here. This standard tech support e-mail I find a tiny bit insulting. I know it is the standard proceedure and all, but you can rest assured I am an expert now on how to reboot my Modem now. Remember In the last three weeks now, I have not had a reliable connection and have tried everything short of inviting a priest over to Exercise my networking equiptment... The technician that has come to my place of residence has assured me that it is an issue further up the wire.

Please do a little research in the area, is there any outages? Are there other people in my area having similar problems? (I know there is because my neighbors got service vans in front of thier houses too, and my friend 3 miles away is having the same issues, only not as bad.)

I use to work tech support, so I understand what you are going through too... You ask what the problem is, give the standard replys, pacify the customer with 'deals' and coupons, eventually ending in a repaired, refurbished, or new product. Unfortunately you are providing me with a service, and you cannot just swap out my time for new time. My time has thus been wasted. You cannot just get me a replacement for my connectivity, all you can do is repair the lines, I suggest you start there. Please send a technician to test/fix the lines in my area.(It's one of the many reasons you get $40.00+/Mo. from your customers..)To which you will reply with: "Please set up an appointment to have a technician come out." I did, They came this morning and told me there is nothng they can do.

So now what? I am creeping up on a month without service here. This is unacceptable. I have yet to read or hear of anyone praising your company. Not to mention ever technician and phone-in tech support person I talk to (Upwards of about 35 or so people now) DO NOT use your service, and they get it for FREE! Make me feel like I haven't wasted my time with your company. In the meantime I will be looking into the suggestions provided to me by the many friends and asscoiates that are former Comcast victims..

When I find the alternate internet provider for my area, you will lose my whole street's business within a week, we have all been communicating and are looking for an alternative to your comapny. We are fed up! All it will take is one service van from your competition rolling down with a phone number on the side, to kill your business in my area.

We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced.

Sometimes it is necessary to completely shut down your cable modem
connection when something isn't functioning properly. This is similar to
rebooting your computer. For best results, the modem should be connected
directly to the wall power outlet and not to a powerstrip. You'll also
want to make sure that there are no splitters or filters on the cable
line between your cable modem and the wall cable outlet.

If the cable modem is spontaneously re-booting and there is no evidence
of signal-related problems, check the electrical conditions near to the
cable modem. Possible causes of causes of spontaneous re-booting are
wiring to the cable modem is faulty or intermittent; spikes arising from
other major users of electricity like vacuum cleaners, power tools,
heating thermostats, and refrigerator thermostats; electromagnetic
interference from mobile phones or local radio transmitters; or the cable
modem itself is faulty.

It is also important to know that most cable modems will only allow an
Ethernet connection or a USB connection but not both at the same time.
Please follow the instructions below for powercycling your cable modem.

Cable Modem with a NIC (Network Interface Card):
1. With your computer powered down, unplug the power cable from the
back of the modem. If the power cable of your modem doesn't remove from
the back of the cable modem, you will need to unplug the modem from the
wall power outlet
2. Unplug the RJ-45 (Ethernet cable - looks like a phone cord but
larger) cable from the back of the modem
3. Unplug the RJ-45 cable from the back of the computer
4. Wait 5 minutes
5. Plug the RJ-45 cable into the computer
6. Plug the RJ-45 cable into the modem. You should hear a soft click
sound each time the Ethernet cable is plugged in
7. Plug the power cable back into the wall outlet or the cable modem
8. Wait for about 5 minutes
9. Turn your computer on

Cable Modem with a USB adapter:
1. With your computer powered down, unplug the power cable from the
back of the modem. If the power cable of your modem doesn't remove from
the back of the cable modem, you will need to unplug the modem from the
wall power outlet
2. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the modem
3. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the computer
4. Wait 5 minutes
5. Plug the USB cable into one of the other USB ports on the computer
than the one you unplugged it from
6. Plug the USB cable into the modem
7. Plug the power cable back into the wall outlet or the cable modem
8. Wait for about 5 minutes
9. Turn your computer on

I am currently talking to SBC's engineers about the situation and the business opprotunity that exists in my area, if they were to extend a Node here. In 7 months I can have DSL...

Man, I really can understand your pain on this matter.....

I also have comcrap due to a monopolized area for high speed internet..
Now i sell the crap <not alot> and i sold my wife, <well us> a modem, and comcrap service. I myself as a sales rep confirmed an installation time and date for that week. I waited, and waited and waited, no tech.. so i called, they told me ok, we will have another tech come out in 4-6 busness days....... i already waited 4-6 days for my installation, so i told them, "I was scheduled TODAY, and no one showed up...... so u have to be here tomarrow, NOT 4-6 days away!!.

So the lady then made another ticket for me to be installed that following monday..... 3 days away...

So the Tech came, installed, and left... everythings workin great Until......
Poof, connection terminated. I called, and called, and called, they all kept tellin me its a problem wit the wire, modem, etc..... never occured to them that maybe it was there fault, not mine.

Until i called a 5th time and got someone who actually looked into my account and discovered that is was cancelled........ cause they had 2 installation tickets out that cancelled out and terminated my service.....

THEN after that was resolved, they were telling me that i am goin to be charged full amount cause they could not get my promotion of $20 per month for the 1st 6 mos back on my payment plan....and they were working on getting my old promo back.....they called said it was ok ...Until i recieved my 1st bill...

60 bucks, plus 3 dollars for renting modem...... i OWN MY MODEM!!, so AGAIN i called......... talked to a lady.. explained situation, and she actually HELPED ME!! took off my modem rental fee, and also put me back on the origanal promotion i signed up for. BOUT FUKIN TIME!!!

Moral of the story is....... fukin comcast techs r lazy fat ass retards that fuk everything up for all of us.

Actually I use SBC DSL in Dallas, so that is an option fro some areas. Also, in some areas, some company is now offering fiber optic internet connections to residential areas. I'd definitely go for that if you can.

They have assured me my connection has been fixed...

I think I will stay at work and play for a bit before I go home and get further owned by Comcast..
