Pilonidal Cyst

Been suffering a Pilonidal Cyst (Not really a cyst though was just an abscess)for a few days and let me tell you it sucks balls :\

Anyone else have this / know how to prevent it from acting up?

Sorry to hear that. My sister had one many many years ago. All she had done was had it drained regularly and eventually had to have it removed. Hers didn't have hair in it.

i actually just got over one. mine popped and (this is gross) the puss drained out and it stopped hurting.

soak in a hot tub of water and hydrogen peroxide three times a day. hopefully yours will pop like mine did. i feel no pain at all now, and i didnt need surgery. i could barely walk while it was infected, it sucked ass.

I have the sinus cavities for it to drain out of so it didn't pop has just slowly been draining. I feel like a chick on the rag.

I soaked in some epsom salt water to try and lessen the pressure and mostly have just been laying with a heating pad on my ass.

It ended up collecting up and turned into a really tight knot couldn't walk stand or sit to easily.

They gave me some antibiotics and Tylenol with codone slowly but surely working. Just want to not go through this again if possible

Yeah, at the height of my infection, it was the worst pain i had ever been in. It hurt to do anything. I was eating vicodin like fucking m&ms.

A friend of mine had one removed a few months ago. There was a big hole near the base of his tailbone where they removed the cyst, and he had to get the wound cleaned out and re-stuffed with bandages daily. He was miserable during the whole thing.

Hopefully you'll be ok. Like I said before, once mine popped the pain almost completely went away. Two days later the opening from where it had popped had reopened, and all of the puss came out. I haven't felt a thing since.

Move to canada and have our OHIP cover the day surgery to have it removed. Other than that EW!

How long is the recovery from the operation with the re-stuffing etc?

It depends how big it is and how deep they go in to remove it. I think he had to get help with it for a month before it was small enough for him to do himself. They dig everythign out, so the wound has to grow back from the inside out. I guess when the nerves start to grow back you feel everything.

I've popped almost everything there is to pop on your body. Spider bites, zits, blisters, etc.

The last thing i expected when i searched it was to see about 10 different pictures of guys spreading their cheeks to show the camera their problem.

Gross doesn't begin to describe.

Yeah, i thought when i popped my spider bite it was nasty. I honestly thought that anything that you could pop would be slightly under a spider bite. I hope to god i never get one of these.

I'm sorry anyone has to go through something like that. Especially if they go through the surgery, which also looks pretty gross-gross-gross.
