Pirates 3! (Spoilers, says I)

*shrugs* Sometimes there are budget problems, ya know? The movie was pretty elaborate before the final scene they could've started running out of money or time.

I know, I plan on buying it and putting it with the other two. You don't think about money when you see stuff in your mind lol. You just see it. :)

More pirates would make for a better reasoning for there to be an enormous clash with the Armada. In that case if Davey never kicked the bucket it would have been nice to see a colateration between him and Calipso, as she released her fury, and if she could, raise sunken ships and haul them into the scene with great typhoon force, while Davey would swallow his pride and raise a large number of pirates from the locker all in the name of revenge. Then toss in the speech.

It's exspected 3 more movies are to come about from this, as there definatly is alot without closure.

As for the budget it costed $300,000,000 to prouduct the film and by May 27 it raken in $400,000,000. By no means does this exceed anyones expectations. Not sure if they were racing to meet a deadline for this. They had over 500+ CG artists, the movie was nearly 3 hours long, and it's a Disney project, so money isn't much of a worry for prouduction ( roughly 1M a minute to shoot the movie and pay everyone and for everything)

If they wanted to they could have done more easily i think.

So, you all think this is the "Matrix Revolutions" of this franchise?

No way. Matrix sequels failed much more than Pirate sequels ever did. I wouldn't even call them failures. They just didn't stay up top with the first one, but lets face it, it was a high enough bar already.

I just went to see the movie for the second time. Guess what I noticed in the final battle backgrounds, smoking ships. That's right, they never shot the rest of the battle but from what my friends and I confirmed, there were smoking ships in the background and the ships were mixed together. After the victory shot, there was clear water in the middle because of the maelstrom where the flagship was taken down, but the rest of the ships were intermingled at least a bit. They never show any wide shots of the boats being together, just quick shots of each individual ship. So the final battle, while not as epic as some wanted, did happen in the backgrounds of the main conflict.

It was good and all, but like Kari said, where the hell was the whole Calypso thing? The way they introduced her and set her up, it was gonna be some big story thing. Then she was released and she kinda...left?

I think Calypso's only single role in this movie was to make the climax battle scene of the movie look more epic and cool :P

Ok, so I'm a little late on this, but I finally saw the move. It was "Ok". I think it is one of those situations where my personal expectations were just too high. I LOVED the first movie. I have not yet been able to put my finger on it, I just know that there was just some kind of intangible quality in the first movie that it's offspring simply lacked.

Ocean's 13 opens today. Die hard 4 in a couple weeks. Transformers scares the shit out of me. I will see it asap, but I just have this Dredd (pun intended) that it is going to turn into another "Masters of the Universe"
