...I'm lvling my White Mage in Valkurm Dunes and I get not 1...not 2...but THREE /tells asking if I need a power level! So out of instinct I ask:
"What's the catch?"
They respond, "<No Money> I'm willing to help."
I say: "No Thanks."
Because we already had one...and we were doing rather good for a 10-12 party in dunes. So the point of my thread is this...Now that SE has made updates, will I be getting these random /tells from people who would normally not be so generous?? I was propositioned 5-10k until the party broke. Now its not a bad price, but I think it is pathetic that people who once monopolized NMs are now desperate enough to ask if they CAN pl your party. Where we these people when I really needed them? Oh ya - camping NMs and raking in the dough....Not so rich now, are ya??

So what are your thoughts on their new tactic to gil finding?

If its a free PL, I'd say yes :P

I think it's good the Gill sellers are turning into semi-decent non-troll-like creatures bred for the sale of gil... o.0

I don't understand, what you are trying to make a big deal of.

The tactic is perfectly legit, you are paying someone to help you out. It is the SELLING of gil that is wrong.

It would be naive to think we can 100% get rid of gil sellers, but I would rather have them PL-ing in a zone where it is badly needed, than hogging NM's. Although I still do not agree with the selling of gil.

as i said in the other thread you made

You are the proud new owner of the dumbest thing i ever read on the internet.

What ever happened to the "Power Leveling is a bad thing" sentiment?

Especially in the Dunes, where people should be learning about the party dynamic and/or where their job fits a party. A power level ruins that connection and spoils the game experience [pun intended]. Yes, this even applies to leveling your "sub" or if it isn't your first time through the Dunes.

PL only leads to n00bs in Qufim, Kahzam, Craweler's Nest and beyond. Help prevent the spread of the Valkurm Dunces, teach and explain - don't PL or except a PL.

Uh... then how's it a gil getting method?

- This thread has made me giggle. More so that I seen it again here. Tho, I do like a good discussion versus a flame. What makes me giggle more is that if I read this correctly.. those who power level are now gilsellers. Maybe I read this wrong, lol, it is possible. (English never was my best subject in school, so please forgive me!) Power leveling has been a mony making opertunity for many mages. At times, I have found it to be more trouble than it's worth, and at the same time, can be rewarding. - The fact that they sent you a tell asking if you needed one amazes me. It's understandable tho, as many have raced to higher lvls and put there dune days behind them. Those who go back, generally want to go through the lower levels as fast as humanly possible. It is a service. (Perhaps not one that SE game dynamics had anticipated, but still a service. I'd put that on par with asking a lvl 75 thf for help getting a coffer key, or any other said item.) I have turned down more offers to power level people than I have ever asked a person if they needed a power level.. that's for sure. If they spammed you consistantly asking you if you needed one - then okay, yea, they're annoying and the lot. If they sent at tell once and offered you their service then perhaps they were trying to make honest gil, and help you out in the same process by letting you know they were available to take on the task. I have no idea what your experience was like in this sittuation, nor the point that you're trying to get acrossed ; ;

You're obviously not against power leveling, as you stated you already had a power leveler. I can understand the arguement on not wanting Power Leveling, and will respect that very much so even tho I have given and received a power level from time to time - not a lot who can say that they haven't received help from a friend or helped a friend. I also respect the thought of not paying for a power level - and, of course, the person does not have to pay for it if they do not want the service. If you're ranting that you don't like random tells - then, I can respect that too.. It's on par with a telemarketer calling your house and asking you to purchase something that you don't intend to buy.. but, they gotta work and they wouldn't have a job if they didn't find at least someone to buy.
