Playing FFXI at college

I recently decided to bring my PS2 up to college and start playing FFXI again, only to find that the process of bypassing all the college security crap is an extremely frustrating.

I have successfully obtained my MAC address for my PS2 and have successfully registered it to the college's server. They told me down at IT services that this would allow me to bypass the Cisco Clean Access Agent that the college uses.

I returned to my dorm only to find that the same Error: POL-1160 appeared after becoming stuck on the "Checking Playonline Viewer Version" step of logging in. I searched through the network configuration tabs but assumed that everything set for generate automatically would work.

Does anyone play Final Fantasy on a playstatioin at a college that uses Clean Access Agent or some other secruity measure? How did you get around the security and connect to the server?

I think I had to manually put in port numbers and stuff. I know that leaving everything on automatic wouldn't work. I just don't remember what I did ; ;
