PLD Question

like i said before, originally the pt was going to be a normal setup, but when we were at 6/6 members...we decided to just cannon it, and he went /nin. And HE was the leader, so i couldnt of just been like "yeah I'd rather have a war, cya buddy". Your acting like he was just a leech to the pt though, he was hitting 50-70 a sword and 600+ vorpal blades...was probably out parsing the sam.

if his VB was accurate enough to score each swing to get 600dmg and normal swings are 50-70, your fighting stuff that is way too easy. with all the attack gear possible, he still is barely getting his attack numbers up to that of an actual DD that isnt wearing attack+ gear.

We were 68-70 killing Mnt. Z crawlers. Which would check T-VT if i remember correctly. It was basically like taking a merit pt to the mire, low exp but fast kills. And im not disagreeing with you that he wont compare to an acctual DD, im just saying that a pld is capible of being somewhat DD.

yes, on extremely low mobs that have little evasion. but, they are or are not DD. and pld are not dd by any means. in that situation that you gave an example of, if you substituted a rdm in his place with nin sub, that rdm would do the same dmg. and again, a rdm is not a dd either. not even somewhat. also, war sub would give more str. which would give ws more dmg

PLD must have some capacity to be a half-decent DD. Bitchin rating in sword, access to all the heavy plate (war/pld/drk) pieces, access to almost all the same DD gear that war has... they're almost the same as war minus Aggressor, a few of the higher-end DD pieces, and use reg/large swords instead of reg/large axes - and even there, the DPS on comparable weapons isn't too different.

Weapon stats are less common on swords but they're still nothing to laugh at. I offhanded sword for most of my /nin exping, primarily for stats. If a pld geared & ate completely 100% for DD, they must be able to hold a candle in a parse.

A large portion of that is weapon skills, sword weapon skills suck balls compared to rampage. They can wear some of the same gear as a warrior for weapon skills and some for meleeing, but they can't wear all of it and some of those pieces I'd imagine are pretty important. Paladin could be a mediocre at best DD, but that's not why you're getting invited.

This is true, they're missing a couple hits in the WS (comparing pld/war for Berserk & DA vs. war/nin). But it's still a crit-modded skill, and I'd be lying if I said Rampage beat Vorpal in non-exp tests. Not that that really says much in this discussion, but I was shocked to see VB steadily outperform Rampage during farming TW's (Dainslaif vs. Martial at the time). But again this is a moot point that doesn't really pertain to the topic.

Running through my TP build, the only things I can think of are:

slot: my piece (pld piece)

ammo: Bomb Core (can pld use this?)
body: Hauberk (hauby)
hands: AF2 (Spiked Finger Gauntlets or Tarasque+1)
waist: AF2 (Potent Belt)
legs: AF2 (I dunno, Dusk?)
feet: AF1 (no suggestion, Dusk again?)

That's a horribly shitty sam if a paladin is outparsing him, was he naked or using a polearm?
SAMs were good in exp to begin with?

Mine was, but then I rocked it harder than most. This was even before Seigan and Hasso.
