Please stop powerleveling... In the dunes.

For what ever reason you have to do this, is no exuse. I can now point out 2 topcis you have revived.

You are breaking the rules, and I am shure if you keep on, your IP will be blocked, or something in that category.

Every single party my little brother got in the dunes they where powered leveled. He being the WHM he had nothing to do so several times he went to sleep and would wakeup 1 to 2 levels up. WTF!

He is leaving the game though, “he says he doesn’t like it”, “I say, the game is too hard for him”. He has gone back to UO.

Well, I think it's not bad to revive posts like this although I don't like thread necromancy anymore than the next post..... Reviving idiot posts like omgz i hatez you.... is a little bad.

It's interesting to see how PL-ing has GROWN into an even bigger problem where it's pretty much the norm to have an entire party levelled rather than the original 1 that Krono saw.

My views on powerleveling can be summed up as such:

1. I personally refuse to help anyone in a party with curing unless they all have at least a level 30 job (usually my LS friends).
2. In Valkurm, I do nothing more than defuse Gob aggro and level enhancing on them.
3. In Qufim, I do little more than defuse Undead aggro and level enhancing on them.
4. In Kazham, I skill up on gobbies unless parties are needing them, and level up enhancing on them.

(see a trend... fuggin PLDs and having slow enhancing magic levels...)

I don't ask people to PL me, I don't expect to get a PL ever. If one happens to come along, and the party seems suited for it, I'll accept the help. If there is a situation where NO mages can be found (we all have experienced this) and a friend is bored enough, I will have them be our curer from outside the party. I don't see anything wrong with 6 melee leveling together because no WHMs happen to be in the range at the time.

I would extend this a little bit we all agree PL ing a new player sucks all around because they do no tlearn the game I would also say PL ing an experenced player who is playing a different type of job is just as bad example: I play mage jobs and I will be the first to admit I have alot to learn when it comes to melee so if I get a powerlevel on a melee job I am just starting I am no better than that newbie the sae goes for melee players juststarting mage jobs sure we know the game but until we play the jobs we still miss out on alot if we powerlevel instead of learning the job through normal play.

just my two gil

Why do it in the dunes when you can do it somehwere private that doesn't annoy people? If you're going solo go to the damned dangruf wadi or something.

Something to add: At nineteen most of the tier two goblins there will con Decent Challange to EP. 17-18 It's even match to decent challange.

A job strong enough to solo the mobs quickly and effectively *Dragoon, Warrior* could make some good xp if they had a healer cutting their downtime.

So if you're around the same level range as this dingbat, go to the Wadi, not the dunes. :P

Though I get annoyed by the crappy users power leveling puts out, what really makes me mad is just the general laziness of the people. I saw whole parties with a WHM and a RDM in the party standing around doing nothing because they couldn’t find a power leveler. If the dunes are too hard for you, then I hate to think about what they are thinking when they get to there 50s, IT DOESN’T GET EASIER.

*Off Topic*
Argenin, I like your sig..

I say power lvlin a noob to lvl 10 is ok but after that dont plvl them till they learn and can perform there roll in a party, and learn the importance of having the proper subjobs for there job there playing. They can learn solo on there own time cuz its in most cases only endangering them self. To avoid the dunes and fire crystal hunt I solo in ghesbit outpost as long as there things there that give me xp I soloed my sam/rng till lvl 17 so that only gave me 2 lvlin i needed in the dunes which made my dune stay very short lol :)

I'm totally 100% right with you Red. BUT, if someone can't get a pt, you could pl him a little... but not a new beginner... I mean they have to get to know their job, and fight in a real pt...
Not just wack their way through some tough mobs :?

People in statics don't know how to do their job outside of a narrow, rehearsed, and sheltered window, but no one ever rags on them. There's nothing wrong with powerleveling. Give people more credit. They know they're being aided. They know how to compensate when the leveler leaves. They know a good setup when they see one.

There are 73's who don't know how to play. Go after them before you go after a duning player with the sociability enough to have a higher mage at their side.

Dunes sucks ass. 90% of the players there suck ass.

i couldn't agree with that any more. even with advanced jobs and what not ive been in too many bad parties to even get anywhere. i dont blame some people being pleveld cuz dunes party suck......

Japanese parties for the win

Power leveling isnt the reason the dunes suck. The dunes can acually be pretty fun only if you have ppl to know what there doing. Plvlin sucks cuz they allow stupid ppl that dont know who todo there job to get to higher lvls, and ruin potientaly really great parties with ppl that know what there doing.

i think the main problem with that place is that when you get to higher levels you have so many other spells and abilities that let you take mobs on faster and harder. at the dunes you're stuck with a limited amount of ability, so unless you have either 1. a party that really knows wtf they are doing or 2. a party with a sweet set up like two nins and four blms you're screwed.

i got good xp today with some good parties, but its nothing like what i get at higher levels. honestly, it has nothing to do with being powerleveled through the dunes. people get shit handed to them throughout the entire game. to say, oh stop powerleveling in the dunes.. it kind of just looks past the fact that people suck throughout the ENTIRE game no matter what.

the dunes is just an easy excuse for people to start complaining about how bad things are, or a good place to start pointing fingers.

i've said it before, and i'll say it again, i have powerleveled many people through lvls 10-25. Its not because they're bad players. Its because they're good players who don't want to deal with the stress of dealing with other people. I powerleveled Audino about 5 lvls through 15-20. Does that make him a bad ranger? I don't think so. I powereleveld Kenohkii's mages (we did it, he got his magic skills up, I didnt stop him from using them) from 1-15. Does that make him a bad white mage? NO! It just makes him a faster higher level white mage so he can help us linkshell people out with missions and static and other things we need a white mage for.

ITs so easy to jump to conclusions when you see people getting pl'd in the dunes. Its so easy for you to say, LOOK! there is the reason so many people suck in this game. The truth is the same bullshit that you see in the dunes happens throughout the ENTIRE game, just in differnet ways. You wonder how colbwa got rank 7? Come on. Face facts. Its not just valkurm. Quit pointing fingers.

you can get good xp in the dunes in certain situations. for everything else, theres powerlevels.

Well if your plvlin a experienced player thats no there no way to know it there experiences if you dont know who they are. Most ppl that posted here are ppl thats sick of ppl plvlin noobs and these noobs tend to think at higher lvl that they know what there doing the in fact ther full of shit. They think they kick ass but they only kicked ass is besauce they always have a lvl what ever healer ther healing them that will never run out of mp. Now its hard to distinugish a diffence sometimes cuz experiences players sometimes start new character who alot of ppl see they dont have a sub job and automaticly think there a noob with is right in my book. Right because by assuming all ppl without sub jobs are noobs youl tend to not want to plvl them cuz if there a noob thats there free ticket to get high lvl, and ruin potenialy great pts. MOst experienced players that start a new character already have friends that know them and are willin to plvl them to avoid the hell of the dunes, now you ppl have to realize to someone thats doesnt know your or your experinced friend with a new character they think that character is a noob which you cant blame him for. Im sure any noob that joins your ls will end up getting a free ticket to being higher lvl but I just hope that you taught him well so he either learns his job though being taught by a experienced player of thriugh there own personal experience. The point being that we need more ppl that know there job weather they learn and listen to other more expierenced ppl or learn them self. By stoping plvlin ppl you dont know in the dunes youll greatly lower the amount of ppl that still dont learn ther job at higher lvls. that may include experienced players that that get screwed in the dunes time and time again but this will alsove the high lvl noo problem. So let ppl bitch and complain cuz the more ppl that read this the less ppl will plvl ppl they dont know in the dunes and allowing this problem to exsist.

Pl-ing is not a bad thing, as long as you're not disturbing other parties with their xp-ing. In Dunes, when I used to play, I had nice parties. You can suck at playing the FFXI but if you are just willing to listen to your leader or somebody in your party who has experience in this area or in the game or etc, like someone earlier said in this thread, then they are not a bad player. People not willing to listen or accept advice are bad players. I went thru dunes with 7 different jobs and I got through it easy enough, because people were willing to listen to the leader, which was usually me. ^^;

PL-ing could be good tho. If you have a NICE PL, he/she may see someone in distress and heal him/her while PLing their friend/whoever. I saved a lotta people's lives in dunes (although it's not really necessary until lvl 25 imho) while plvling an LS member, or someone who was down on their luck in getting a party. I know how it feels to wait forever for a party. I used to be a decent dragoon when i played FFXI so i feel bad about it when i know i wasn't doing anything currently in the game.

I do agree with not being plvled on your FIRST job though. You need to go to the school of hard knocks so you can learn how your job works. Although some people need to take extra sessions because some members in parties i used to be in still don't know how to do their job well. *sighs* This is all making me wish I could come back and play with you people again. But Pwnage hung up his old Drachen Armor and Grand Knight's Lance ^.^

I heard from a friend who still plays that there has been an increase of drgs in the world but they are 'ok' and that there are FEW good drgs. Did the gil sellers give 'em that much of a bad name? Maybe I'll be back again one of these days, to get more dragoons into the game... Sorry.. sorta got off track, but you got my 2 gil at least.
