Get a DVD rom. Everything is probably going to be DVD rom soon anyways.
But yeah, i assume there will also be a CD rom disc avail.

Buy the DVDs and send them to me with the activation codes. I'll convert them to CDs for you... FREE OF CHARGE!

wow i seem to remember mentioning, not to say buy a DVD rom...

Ofcourse, buying a DVD-ROM will help you. You cannot cling to obsolete technology forever.

You think you have problems, I'm waiting for it to come out on this:

As I see it there is 2 solutions for you:

1. Get a DVD drive
2. Don't play.

It proably spans multiple gigs, so they don't want to deal with CD anymore.

you can get a DVD rom that plugs into a USB port. Dont even need to install it as hardware.

Either that or just buy a DVD copy and wait for an .iso to come out on one of the many places it'll be available on the web. I wouldn't be suprised if one of the 'major' sites linked to a BT tracker. Use a virtual drive to install the files and put in your personal codes you got from the DVD version you bought.

Either that, or again, spend about what were going to spend on the game anyway and upgrade to technology you should have had in your PC about three or four years ago.

USD $9.00

what do i win?

edit: and yeah, you can just buy the game, then download an ISO on any IRC bot-search websites, or torrent sites and just install the ISO, then use your registration keys and you'll never have to touch the DVD disc once :p

What good is a copy of FFXI/CoP/ToAU without reg codes? It's not like you can autogen keys for the game, and that's probably going to make ISOs of ToAU a lot harder to find outside of the main FF sites.

Some people will prefer spending an assload of time finding an ISO that isn't corrupt instead of dropping a few bucks on a DVD player, and if they're up for that let 'em.

Just get a DVD-ROM drive. I recently bought a DVD+-RW from Newegg for about $60. A regular DVD-ROM for just reading would be even cheaper. It's nice for it to be on DVD, so it'll be one disc instead of adding two or more to the stack of seven I already have for FFXI + POL.

If you live near Fayettville Arkansas I'll trade my cd copies for a dvd version. I'm sick of having to go through 6 discs every time I reinstal (soon 7-8 ). If you frequent lan parties much, you could probably find someone who had or could make you an iso too...but uh you didn't hear that from me *looks over shoulder for Sculli*.

Another solution is have a friend who does have a dvd player make an iso version of the dvd player with a program I won't mention here. Then you can use daemon tools (not a piracy program, just virtual disc drive) to play the iso like it was an actual dvd drive in your computer. Lots of alternatives to getting a dvd drive...but installing a dvd drive is by far the easiest. If you need information on how to install it yourself, just ask.
