Pokemon Diamond / Pearl Thread

I'll fess up, I think I've played every one thus far, and the best one was probably Ruby, but I'd definitely pick this one up if it was for some platform other than DS, but I dunno if I'll have much luck on that part.

All starters are off-limits unless you do what Garvin said. I'm just going to transfer all my mon off my Sapphire, then start new games to get the three starters, evolve the torchic once, then set it free, just for Dex capture completion.

Good ol' Blaziken. The bane of all Steel pokemon. Fighting/Fire ftw.
 
Got mine yesterday! Probably logged around an hour on it already. I took the turtle-grass based starter pokemon (even though the water-based one has a much cooler final form). I'll post my friend code as soon as I can.
 
My friend named their Absol Mishaela. O_o;
Game looks fun, just wish I had a DS to play it on. Are all of the Pokemon unique for the most part? I mean Ruby/Sapphire was neat, but alot of the Pokemon seemed to just be ripoffs of previous Pokemon (i.e. Plusle/Minun, Electrike...)
 
Turtwig is basically the grass-type version of Squirtle(Water) or Torkoal(Fire,) if thats what you mean by rip-offs.
 
I'm getting it, if only for the battlenet functions, who doesn't wanna battle online?
 
By the way, if any of you Diamond-version people stumble across an Aron in your travels, hook me up. I can't catch it in the Pearl version, and I love that little metallic battletank.

Sure I'll grab you an Aron when I beat the elite four and get my PokeRadar Hali. I'm after a Houndour or a Bagon from Pearl myself :)

I don't think anyone plays for the story. Its all about making adorable little creatures destroy other adorable little creatures.
 
Speaking of adorable little critters, I just completed my first GTS transaction. Some Japanese player sent me a Lv. 3 Chimchar for my wild lowbie Ponyta. Go-go, firemonkey!
 
Refresh my memory; does Magikarp do anything, ever?

I'm pretty sure he doesn't, but I honestly can't remember if he becomes anything fancy once you hit a certain level.
 
I've played multiple versions of the game since the old B&W Gameboy days, and getting Magikarp to evolve to Gyrados is the one constant. He's always in my team when it comes time for the Elite Four.
 
Gyrados is now one of the stronger pokemon thanks to the new battle system
 
Yeah, I picked Piplup to start with, Hes Prinplup now, and he feels weaker when I use him than some of my others, his massive weakness to electric and grass moves, which are so common, with no real way to counter electic or grass pokemon sucks :(

I love the look of him tho :) so I need to get a good move for him from some TM I think.
