Pokemon Diamond / Pearl Thread

How does the online trading work? Can I only trade with people whose friend codes i have? Or is there a global marketplace type thing?

Also, I read somewhere that you can stop an evolution by pressing B when it starts. Why is that beneficial? Wouldn't you want your guys to be evolving?

Unevolved pokemon learn moves earlier usually. Sometimes a pokemon has to evolve to get certain moves like how magikarp will never learn hyper beam or anything other than tackle/splash.

There are two types of online trades. With friend codes, you can trade for any Pokemon in your friend's collection.

The other way, the Global Trade System, lets you put one up for trade with a request for a specific pokemon you want; however, you're limited to requesting only pokemon you've encountered or otherwise have named in your Pokedex, otherwise you could have a complete Pokedex before you took on the Elite Four.

Onix's are assholes.

Where do you go to do the trades?

To add to that question, are there limits to what lv pokemon you can trade? Like only being able to trade pokemon at your level and lower. Or is there no limit.

you going to hate my steelix then ;p

I'm not talking about fighting them. I'm talking about catching them. I finally caught one after about a count of 25 or so various balls.

There is no limit. However, you are restricted in using them. Most of the time they will not listen to the commands you give them if they are too high. Every even badge you get ups the level restriction.

ooooh thats right. I forgot about that restriction thing. Ok that makes more sense now lol. Yeah I used to hate that when they don't listen. As a kid that was such a pain. Now I see why they put that feature in the game.

Turtwig is basically the grass-type version of Squirtle(Water) or Torkoal(Fire,) if thats what you mean by rip-offs.

Was moreso referring to stuff along the lines of
Pichu -> Plusle/Minun
Jolteon -> Electrike
Meowth/Persian -> Skitty/Delcatty
Houndour/Houndoom -> Poochyena/Mightyena
Butterfree -> Beautifly
Pidgey(etc) -> Taillow/Swellow
Krabby/Kingler -> Corphish/Crawdaunt

Some aren't quite as obvious as others but they are more or less the EXACT SAME pokemon, even their types and general range of attacks are exactly they same. Alot of the new pokemon are just the old ones after getting wailed on with a metal bat for a few rounds and nothing more it seems. =/

I'm honestly hoping Diamond/Pearl didn't pull this crap too, cause I do love playing the game. I was just VERY disappointed with Ruby/Sapphire.

lol, to my surprise, I'm actually interested in getting either one of these games, even though i haven't played any Pokemon games for about 5 or 6 years. I'm gonna wait for the June 30th EU release though, it'll give me enough time to see if my interest is still on this game.

Turtwig = Bulbasaur.

I will have this game eventually. Right now I'm too broke, and have been getting myself ready for the Halo 3 beta (ie: Xbox Live). I really want it though. Yarrr.

Why the hell does the bunny pokemon have breasts?(Just saw a lopunny)
If they arent breasts they damned sure look like them.
Pokemon...Attempting to draw kids to the furry side since 199X
EDIT: I think they might be hands actually. The first things I saw were two lumps because the hands/arms arent very clearly outlined and as such resmble a large pair of mammary glands instead.

Finished the storyline part of the game tonight after three or four maddening runs at Cynthia. Her Roserade was a serious pain in my ass, but I finally brought her down. Total time: Roughly 54 hours.

My final team and their levels after the Final Four and Cynthia fights were done:
Tiamat (GYARADOS) - Lv. 49
Mephisto (KADABRA) - Lv. 48
Razorback (GARCHOMP) - Lv. 49
Simurgh (STARAPTOR) - Lv. 46
Shinxy (LUXRAY) - Lv. 51
Enkelados (TORTERRA) - Lv. 48

Time to snag my National Dex and get access to Pal Park to start importing some old Pokemon. The first one I'm bringing over is a Ditto for some starter Pokemon breeding. Then I need to sleep because it's nearly 2 a.m., mwa-ha-ha-ha...

I'm currently at 6 badges, took a short break cos I'm completely redesigning my team.

My team, when I'm done with it will be:

Torterra
Medicham
Garchomp
Gengar
Dialga
Rapidash

Unfortunately so far, I have a lvl 40 Torterra, lvl 30 Haunter, lvl 1 Meditite (bred it for a move) and a lvl 14 Ponyta.

I have some serious training to do, and have to try and catch myself a Gible sometime to evolve to Garchomp, pity that theyre so damn rare.
