POL 0250, meets broken television!

Everything's going nicely until the updates. I havn't played ffxi for quite the while now, just reactivated my acct infact. The problem is, 20-25% into one of the 12000/12000 file updates, I get an error reading POL 0250. Here's an example.

I've searched the net for hours to find a solution, and in response to many of my questions, I've only recieved, "I too have the same problem." This does not help me one bit. I've attempted to dl the update many times. PLEASE, offer solutions, thanks.
 
well, as of right now a lot of people are randomly DC'ing etc. so I'm rather sure SE's just having some problems atm. should try again later ^^
 
In either case, I would feel much more comfortable. I've opened the following ports due to advice I've recieved on another forum.
-TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535
-UDP 50000 - 65535
This however, did not solve my problem. I am only concerned because I am disconnected between 20-25% each time. No difference in timing when I am d/c'd. I hope this thread also serves as help to others having the same problem, as I know what you're going through.

It's only happening to PC users.
 
That actually, is not true. For me, it's PS2. Nice try though.

Everyone who knows better: shitty update process backed be even shittier server connectivity.

Either that or you connection is hiccuping during the download just enough to throw it off. Dail-up or broadband?
 
So im assuming no one has actually figured out exactly what the problem is then? For the last week straight i can log in fine, play fine, but anywhere between 20-40 minutes i get dc'd saying unable to connect to server. Wierd thing is i can instantly log right back in with nothing wrong. Its being a pain in the ass to play, as missions, experience party's, and anything else are shot right out the window.

lol Cythe not much i could really do about it. After getting dc'd for the 16th times today i got pissed and threw my keyboard across the room. Ended up spending the next 30 minutes looking for keys and putting it back together.
 
This used to happen to me on PS2. I would randomly disconnect and could get backl on. the amount of time it took for me to be disconnected was completely random too. If your on broadband, I don't know what to say to help ya. But on Dialup all i did was change the number it uses to connect and it went away or at least it happens alot less frequently now).

Actually it has not happened to me in awhile(knows he just jinxed himself >.<).

ya ive got the random disconnect to but lately it has not been that bad.
 
Well if you call SE about it they say it is your ISP. If you call your ISP they will say there is nothing wrong with your connection, or that it is on your end. It is never the companies fault is what I'm finding out.

Did not some 1 say once POL is on a 56k connection so people could play on dail up (for when ps2 was only on dail up) and they should be on T3 or something. Heck POl should get new server total there connections suck when i go into MH i hit R 0 for 1min lol but my jenuo is not bad only hit 1k+ in X mas or something. But yeah POL sucks for connections
 
Only FFXI is capped at 56k, POL can go faster.

POL is on a 56k connection as thats the stand dial up if they where on more dial up people could not play.
But this means broband uses get a slower play. As POL made FFXI useable on dial up PS2 they got a 56k server modem. What basicly sucks for the people on 1meg+ lines as its not letting do what it could potionaly do.
Also who is on dial up now? wow if you are i feel sorry for you
 
I've made it past the update by switching myself off the router which originally split 4 computers and hooked straight into my modem I believe. This allowed to me obtain the patch however, that left my computers w/o connection. Once I hooked the comps+PS2 up to the router, I made my way into the game and much like SomeMithra, I get disconnected randomly with the dreaded POL-0250 error. Help!!!
 
There is a website to DL all FFXI US version window and FFXI i will get you the link when at home. I used it for my COP and no before any one asks you are allowed to do it i called tech support as i could not get my CD from US to EU and was there idea be like 4hrs before i get home.
