For the past two months or so I have been getting completely random (it seems) POL-2059 errors :(

They happen in game, and I have also had it happen while I was just sitting in POL, so it leads me to think it is a POL problem, not a FFXI problem.

I used to get DC'd occasionally last year, but it was always the R0, and then count down from 100% connection to 0%, then it would boot me. These 2059 errors are different; everything is fine, and then BAM I’m booted.

I’ve tried to search the Internet for some help, but I can only find vague references to that error, and it says it could be virus/spy ware related. However I have done multiple checks/scans on my PC, with web based and local scanners, and my system is clean. I have even gone so far as to scan/clean every computer in my home network in case it was some sort of network virus, but the problem still occurs.

I started to reinstall FFXI and POL last night, and left myself logged into POL, so I will see when I get home today if that made a difference.

Has anyone else been experiencing this problem, or have any suggestions on what else I can try? This is really driving me nuts, as it seems to always DC me at the worst possible time. (Last night during my first Maat fight is what put me over the edge...)

I figured I'd try here before I go through the SE support process... Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated^^

might want to run the file check on the very first menu, something could be wrong with one of the files

If you have some kindof program scheduled to run (scandisk, Window Washer, disk defragmenter), that might freeze your connection..

Sounds like a definite router problem. I know this because I've been having (and recently fixed) the same problem. If you are connected through a router, you need to forward certain ports so that FFXI can access them.

Heres a link that gives you instructions on which ports to allow access to

If you are unsure of how to accomplish this, call the tech support line of the manufacturer of your router and they should be able to set you up (Thats what I had to do since i'm noob with stuff like that). If problems persist after that then its something else and idk what to tell you :(. In any case, I found this POL Error on my list of errors that seemed to be caused by my router.

Good luck ^^

Ive run the File Check and its all good, same for the programs running in the background, Ive turned everything off on startup and still have the problem.

I will check my router when I get home tonight though.

ty for your tips^^
