So there I was, trying to board the ship in Mhaura and I am running into an invisible wall. I can not board the damn ship. So I call a GM and they want me to call a number or some shit.

How in the hell was I able to board the ship earlier today, and suddenly, have a problem 2x?

BTW, I guess this would be a flame on the outsourcing of GM support -.-

What the heck is a GM supposed to do?

If there's an invisible wall, zone out then back in again, that should fix it.

It's a lag problem while zoning.. terrain data doesn't always load correctly

This was the second time even after zoning - .-

fresh install of FFXI

This is a flame on GM support. They are ignorant. Do not turn this against me. I'm sorry if I do not see eye to eye with any definition of support, but it would be nice if they could 'fix' the problem instead of shoving it off to someone else. So now I have to waste my time calling to find out what is fucking up.

Well what's the GM supposed to do? Seriously. They aren't tech wizards, that isn't their department.

I have experienced the same problem once. I was fishing on the ferry going back and forth over and over, then one time when we docked in Selbina, I couldn't get back on. I ran at that invisible barrier for a few seconds, and thought wtf? Then when the ship pulled away, I logged to a mule for a few minutes, came back and I got on the next ship with no problems.

I figured it was just a glitch that happened when the area was being loaded or something.

No biggie, no need for a GM call or anything.

Got a similar problem with Bastok's Chocobo Stables a long time ago.
In POL, run a "Check Files" for 10min~.
If you have no corrupted file : sorry for you I can't help.
If you have one corrupted file : write down the path in your POL directory and the name of the file and ask a friend to e-mail you the file and overwrite the old file.

One of the posted reasons to call a GM for is if you are literally stuck and cannot move your character, which should include "invisible walls." In spite of everything, there are occasions when you will get rounding errors, and it will cause your character to "collide" with things that aren't really there. And if there is an error when your character is in a spot that contains walls on all sides, you will be stuck completly, and only a GM "teleport' can get you out. These errors in reverse are the same way you find Galka heads sticking out of the bridges in Windurst.

Hopefully, I'll not have to deal with this anytime soon. You think they're having trouble hiring GM's, and ending up with who ever they could find? These calls are reminding me of when I had to get phone support on my comcast dsl.

Meh, yea....they cant really do much about that, I would think. But besides that, GM support isnt the greatest, but then again....any customer support for a product of this magnitude with the sheer volume of customers isnt ever the greatest anyway. Its just how it is and how it will always be.

The GMs are being "extremely" mysterious about Mahura this days because of the ToAU expansion.

The Milkman from 1up.com asked the Developers of ToAU at the Fan Festival about the gateway to get to Ath Urghan, and they laughed and responded:

"OK, all we can tell you now is that even if you log in Mhaura, you won't immediately be able to get on the boat to Aht Urhgan. You'll have to do something, and that's all we can tell you. We can't tell you what it is, so you'll just have to wait and see. Just don't log out in Mhaura, and you'll be safe. Regarding existing quests, we'll leave that up to you guys. If you think you need to do them, then maybe you should probably do them."

I seriously think your incident is related to that.

They could have warped him up on the deck.

without trying to be an ass, that is what I was hoping they would do

I'm doing it too because it's better to be safe than sorry. Btw, didn't know there were 4 quests. Just one for each nation (being there Blue, Red and Green Invitation Cards. Is there one more? O.O)

I had the same thing happen when I was fishing once. Everything was fine then suddenly the "invisible wall" kept me from getting back on the boat. All you can do really is log then come back and get on the next boat.
