Man, I didn't realize that math and metaphors were so hard until I read this topic.

Black Sheep = outsider, shunned, singularly different.
Scapegoat = someone/something that takes the blame for something it isn't guilty of doing.

I have a laptop, I've never needed windower.
I was more... directly referring to the fact that anyone who says they were banned for it is lying, because they don't ban people for it.

After several months of watching Pers conduct their business on the computer behind me (Reya plays/played in the same room as I do), I can say that, in my observation, that's a load of crap.

Besides, this isn't the flameboard. Let's keep the accusations and whatnot to a minimum.
 
I had no clue aza hacked until he said it in Pimps LS. I've known him for 4 years in this game, and had no clue when he started putting shit on his PC. Rise had quite a few people hacking, and I didn't have a clue until everyone started speaking up about it.

Kind of ridiculous so many people did, and we still never claimed shit lol.
 
I remember a prominent member of these boards saying he was "testing" a new tool as he was camping a NM. Although he didn't specifically say it was a claim tool or anything to that extent, I would almost guarantee it was an illegal cheat and a bannable offense. sad thing is, if I even said his name, people would cry foul in disbelief.

Edit: It was a non-money NM and I have no idea to what extent he used it outside of that camp. Given that he was "testing", one would only assume he had plans for using it.
 
Lol, I recall when people were talking about that in the last attempt to reform the shell after Hmk broke it. Pretty much nixed any chance of me going along with it, to be honest.

Basically, in my experience, people will hack, to greater or lesser extents. So long as I don't know about it, and can't confirm it to my own satisfaction, I don't care. It's statistically irrelevant. If I see someone warp halfway across the zone, claim something instantly, and then sit there and get smacked around for 20-30 seconds, that's when I start asking questions. Someone who claims slightly more often than normal can just be a fluke, not necessarily a hacker. And so long as hacking isn't condoned within a shell, I'm willing to extend the benefit of the doubt to people.

Anyway, back on topic, RMT sucks! Ban moar prz.
 
lol I actually want to witness one of those gobbies running after an rmt. LoL Visually imagining it doesnt do the real thing any form of justice :spiteful:
 
I'd still use windower even if SE released their own windower for FFXI. 6 line macros are bullshit.

If that's 80M for our server I think it's marginal. If you count 3,000 ppl online at JP time, 1,500 at EU and 2000 at US time, that's like 12K gil removed for every player over a period of roughly one month ..

Didn't SE say at one point they plan on updating the GUI? I could be wrong, but I believe they did in an interview around April or May around the time of one of their updates.

I also wouldn't consider windower a staple of FFXI. Considering SE has often stated in these bannings that using tools for POL (they didn't state windower directly) has a direct effect on cheats, even saying that they encourage cheating, I don't think it's a stretch to think they might do something directly to stop windower. My personal guess is they will inhibit the use in one way or another so you're forced to play without it given what they've said and their personal dislike of it whether it's true or not.

Note: This isn't a windower is a cheat thing. I do believe it to be a cheat, but a minor cheat not worth worrying over. It's in the same league as using an unregulation bat while playing a game with friends, no one cares.
 
I use windower. I'll use windower until a reasonable substitute from SE comes into play. If I get banned, worse things have happened. However, I still have yet to even visit Mordion Gaul, or get a reprimand from a GM, or even repute a GM call made against me... so I don't think I'm in muddy water yet.

I think if SE made extended macros, and some of the nifty things windower serves for (Man I tell ya, I love having distance there for blm...) I'd be willing to give it a go. Think about it, it's a Direct X8 gen game, in which in "normal" mode can only be run full screen. It's old and to top that, I do believe just about every other MMO out there offers ALT-TAB compatability. It's time, after what, 5 years now, they make something suitable, or at least allow UI enhancements, like WoW, or other games.

I don't think it's going about the same way. I think it's more of people just stating what they enjoy about windower and why they prefer it. Like I said before, SE stated they think 3rd party tools (windower is a 3rd party tool) is partly responsible for the use of cheats and encourages it further. No one or at the very least not many believe that's one bit true, but that won't change the way SE thinks. Eventually when they release their own windower (... in five months...?), one can only guess they'll use preventative measures to stop the third party windower even if it has other options. It'd be my hope that SE would take a page or two from the current windower and improve some features, but after all, this is SE we are talking about so fat chance on that part. However, they did say awhile ago they would change the GUI some so maybe it's not too much of a stretch.

You must be new here. Let me explain:

Almost everyone uses windower. I've been playing FFXI since NA release, had windower around three or four months into my game-time and have been using it ever since. Yeah, I'll admit it. I even admitted it to a GM once too, and they did nothing about it. I think the conversation went like this:

Aly: But I use windower!
GM: Yeah, and uh, well, I guess I could suspend you...
Aly: But.. but.. but?
GM: Have a great day Alyada! BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOOOOOOON!

I don't use TParty or flee-hax (I tried a fishing bot once and I think I exploded my brain trying to figure it out...). I use it because I'm not going to limit myself to playing FFXI on my computer and only playing FFXI.

I don't mind personnaly that ppl use windower if it's only to be able do do other stuff while playing. However when i see that ppl rely on distance plugin or TPparty, or even stuff like xp/hour, this makes me angry.

I mean if you can't count your the xp/h, can't do a macro for announcing TP or cannot evaluate distances, you need to stop your job or the game .. I just hope the new gui will enable window mode and alt/tab as well as good graphics.
