At the following time, we will be performing FINAL FANTASY XI maintenance on all worlds. During this period, FINAL FANTASY XI will be unavailable.
Also starting from 8:30 PDT on Aug. 27, application for World Transfer Service will be unavailable.

* The client software will also be updated at this time. Once this maintenance is completed, the client update will start automatically after logging back into FINAL FANTASY XI. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

* You may receive errors such as "POL-1160" or "POL-0010" during the download process due to heavy server traffic. If you are unable to access the update, we ask that you please wait a while and then try again. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in making this a smooth version update.

Sweet, I was looking forward to this info of the next update. So that's this Monday at 8:30pm EST? Perfect time ^^ I'll just be coming back from work around that time too :D
 
Nearly a 9 hour update for not a whole lot of announced substance? What the fuck.

Dude, its been 4 years, it's everyones day off who plays FF that day, you should know that by now.

Sorry I wont be around to start a good flame, but I'll be back late that evening, so hopefully someone gets the ball rolling.

Rumor had it on a few of the other boards i ran across in the last week that SE is buying time cause the PIT area to be release has been problems. They might be holding it back for a month.

Awesome, right in the middle of Dynamis! Oh well, it's worth the 2H weapon changes (I hope.)

I understand what you are pointing out perfectly. It was like a melee job "balancing" whatever that meant and they only announced the 2 handed weapon thing...
 
They've still got 5 days to announce stuff before the actual update, and in some cases (such as certain RMT countermeasures, or Diabolos) they only announce stuff once they've shut the servers down *for* the update.

Of course, knowing SE, there'll be a little footnote to the tune of "the intended job balancing update to be included in this patch has been delayed, we apologize for any inconvenience".

You guys are right. Maybe SE is evading comments on some fixes because they will probably disapoint everyone.

I can almost feel the disappointment:

"Due to unforseen problems, the addition of Grips will not happen at this time. However, stay tuned for the April update! Additionally, we realized it was going to be a very daunting task to revamp the two-handed weapon skill system, therefore it will be revised in our next MMO. Stay tuned for details!"

I'm betting that or some outrageous, unexplainable bug, i.e. Grip+Hasso = Hundred Fists-like attack speed. =P
