POL news : Balrahn weapons

And I'm guessing we'll have to travel to the past to upgrade the weapons. To restore them to their original form, or something.

And no, its not that impractical. Its the same as when you hit someone. By wielding swords that way, you can use the whole arm, the shoulders and the stomach in order to power your blow, creating a more powerful hit. Wielding a sword that way gives it more power, and also allows to cut the throat off your opponent easier.

awesome piece of info to know.

i don't think these will be bad at all. i actually look forward to them. (WHERE IS MY BOW DAMNIT)

wonder if they will have the hidden effects like the dynamis weapons do too.

Uh

If you're captain, you can dedicate one night to Nyzul a week with 5 tags and theoretically get to floor 25 in a single day.

4 weeks = 100 floors

Doesn't really seem like a massive time sink to me. Maybe 3-4 hours of work once a week, but most people already do that in sky, sea, camping, merits..
chances are if he don't have time to do assault he most likely not captain. However, even without captain going twice a week either 3 and 3 or 4 and 3 if you remember your tags you can get to top floor pretty fast. Problem is don't you lose your disk once you beat floor 100 and what the chances that you get the weapon you are after?

As for the weapons it going to be same as the relics if they do them right then they be nice, do them wrong then there just show pieces. Blm and smn are going need to have stats rival to that of the elemental staves if they don't then the relic v2 staffs will be nothing more then a show piece.

As for crossbow knowing SE they like well we gave them a gun and a bow relic so lets give them a xbow for v2. Heck who knows looking at the bow might be able to shot multi bolts or be very quick and powerful.

Gaxe as long as it as more base dmg then that of perdu and close stats and the ws is better then RageRush then it could be a popular weapon choice.

The way we in the west wield our weapons is rather weak. Our swords are made almost exclusively for stabbing our opponents in the stomach, throat or chest. The way they do it in movies, where they pretty much duel each other, is not the way they're used. Duels nowadays are about stabbing the opponent, which is pretty much how our swords are meant to be used.

Slightly more eastern, you get the typical curved daggers ("sacrificial daggers"), which are designed for assassination, where you grab the opponent from behind and stab it down the throat towards the heart, causing pretty much instant death, thus hindering the enemy from screaming and warning the enemy. The "dual-wield" way allows for swift movements in order to rip the enemy's stomach and throat up, allowing for great damage in a short amount of time, in order to kill as many people as possible before reinforcements arrive. Inflicting a lot of damage is just simply not possible with our "western" way of wielding sword, unless you stab the enemy. Which by itself doesn't inflict a lot of damage, thus why a lot of people are left alive on the battlefield.

Edit: Our way to wield the sword is, however, effective for us, due to the armour. The Eastern way puts the pressure on a larger part of the sword, which wouldn't cause any damage if you're more heavily equipped, and would only result in scratching the armor. By putting the pressure at a single smaller point, it allows you to pierce the armor in order to damage the person behind it. However, it results in rather minor damage, and also leads the soldier to grow tired faster.

Basically, the eastern way is more powerful and effective if the opponent is unarmored. The western way is more effective against armored soldiers.

I doubt it. Its a toau thing, don't think wotg will be involved.

Is that DNC next to PUP?

With the Three blades?

Holy hell that looks cool

Well, can't be sure of that. While yes, SE has stated that you don't need one expansion to play another, they also stated that you might need another expansion to get the most out of the expansions. As is the case with Apocalypse Nigh and Dreamland Dynamis.

The little blurb says something about it having a secret button that makes the blades pop out. I wanna know if they're gonna work that in to how it looks. That would be cool.

It would be cool if those blades only popped out when you parry, but I doubt they'd make it that advanced :p Its just not SE, so I'm sure it'll have the blades out all the time.

im excited about this... my assault static has been doing nyzul shit for a while. I have thf, Mnk and bard weapons waiting. Not to mention blu (not gonna level it).

All i still want is sam gkt incase thats good and i think i can deal without getting smn.

I also noticed the "bards dont need daggers to sing" part and actually thought to myself that they may have put that in there as a challenge that they were gonna make it sick enough that bards would actually equip daggers. Perhaps an all songs +1... but im dreaming i know.

When this is added I'll be sure to go back to my static, get the weapon, then quit again :p loljk. If/when I come back it'd be for a good year or so.

They said the BRD dagger was used for defense <.<

Watch it have Minuet+1, Eva skill +10, Parry skill +10

for once people can we not over analyze something so when we see that its not 100% up to our expectations we bitch about it for months afterwards.

The weapons look sick. If anything, the only thing that disappoints me is that they don't keep their names. Some of them (Main Gauche, Sasuke Katana, and Werebuster come to mind) carry names of legendary weapons from previous Final Fantasy games.
Ah well, if it's within my reach, I'll be getting me a Tupsimati.

The thf dagger looks ugly... I'd still upgrade it but it certainly doesn't look that great.

That'd screw over the people who used their runic discs >_<

Problem is, you're doing it as a Party.

Once you do Floor 100, the persons disc who was used to get there is reset, and is given another key item that lets them(and THEM ONLY,) redo floors without the use of a disc. You'd need to go 0-100 6 times to equip everyone in the static with these keys, and hope you don't have to get replacements for people who quit. Even at a complete 100% win rate, you're looking at 35 floors a week. Potentially more if you're lucky. But 35 is still pretty optimistic. That'd take over 17 weeks, at 100% clear rate, to get all 6 people set up with Runic Keys. 17 weeks at the minimum just to have the ability to do 7 floor 100s a week.

Now, not only that, but the weapon you want has to drop as well. So you'll have to fight the 1/20 odds as well, and deal with repeat drops on things you do not want.

As for tokens and people who use their discs getting screwed over, simply put, for a group of 6 to all go 0-100 6 times, you're going to sit on a ton of tokens. I don't know how many tokens non-disc holders in my group have, even with using my disc for the last 6 months a majority of the time, I still have just under 30k. And thats with floor transfers, a spy's drink, and a fanatic's drink being purchased every entry. They're probably pushing almost 100k easy.

Aside from money and playing the waiting game, a Dynamis relic weapon can be completed in as little as 6 or 7 runs I think. Assuming everything goes that one persons way. So you'd be looking at about 3 weeks for the actual Dynamis portion of that if you ran as soon as you could every time and have a horseshoe up your ass.

Fortunantly, unlike Nyzul, if things don't exactly go your way in Dynamis, the odds of getting the drops you need is significantly better than that of Nyzuls, since attestations are divided among multiple NMs instead of thrown on just one. 1 in 3 > 1 in 20.

Bare minimum, they're pretty much equal time requirements as far as actual work goes.

Hmm well I was talking about if it cost tokens to upgrade.

ANyways, hmm, I'm not sure I understand. I thought thet keyitem was so the person would go 1->100 again and then the 2nd time your jobs weapon will drop 100%.

That's how I've understood it as well

The only thing that really kinda makes me /emo is that the GKT is so lame and generic looking from the PoV of the picture, it almost makes me not want to bother. It better have that "two blades" thing on the end as it mentioned.

Once your disc hits floor 100 it resets, and you have to go through again & your drops are better/100%
