POL NEWS : Battle Adjustments part 2(08/23/2007)

Boo, i truely hope they add something for Rng. =P tho i guess that is askin a lot.

After seeing the Bst update, i just about had a heartattack.

BST PARTY GO! EM pet + xp party= MF'in WIN!

No shit if the master dies the PUP dies. The problem with your AI listing(using your numbers) is that if the PUP drops below 80% and the tank is at 20%, it'll still cure the PUP first and let the tank die.

Even with the update, they're not going to be useful for endgame since you'd likely need the puppet to be engaged to be able to use it's spells. That's just feeding TP for shit damage to the mob, much more of a hindrance than a benefit for endgame.

Saying the AI will be better than a human playing is pretty foolish. If all you need is a curebot, then yes it'll do the job adequately; no better than a human who's paying attention(who forgets they have curaga), but it'll get the job done. The rest of the functions of a healer, though, the AI would be worthless for. The puppet wouldn't know shit about a haste order, or which debuffs to remove first for and which people. It'd likely waste time casting viruna on melee's with only virus, or blindna on the mages.

You're also making a giant assumption about the level of AI they're going to put into the game. It takes a super computer to process the data to beat a chess champion, there's no way the AI for the game is going to have access to that level of power.

either i dont have eraser(which i should) or ive just never seen it effective enough to use it. since still the automaton stands there doin nothing noncombative mode

I use it all the time, but anyways. Since eraser only works on puppet/self I can see them adding status removal spells to the WHM head, but I honestly don't think SE will make it so the automaton will do anything outside of combat mode, but we'll see come Monday i guess.

Anti-MPK patch problem....SOLVED! at least for the legit reason people wanted it away after it occurred. It broke a lot of camps we use to use when we pulled one pet to a new area. Now we can just leave it charmed and heal it with stay.

To be honest only old timer BST cried about antimpk patch -.- I've levelled BST to 50 and it has never been a trouble,it just required to play differently, like pulling a mob to pet camp, rather than pulling your pet where mobs are.

Actually it has a lot of advantages, like making pet depop until even maches only repop. Also if your pet is at low HP, leave it, make it depop, and a fresh one will repop w/o having to wait the regen ( that is if you dont care your pet might repop dcent challenge). But i guess this will be even easier now.

NVM -.-
[Edit]
Misread like a sucker...

However, I dont think PUP will serve as a very good mainhealer anyhoo.
A good addition on the other hand, sure, but with everyone having so many jobs these days,
I doubt any end-game shell will have to use a pup as backup healer.

I'm wondering if they will incur that BST penalty when BST is subbed...

its endgame valuebility wouldnt be in the whm, but the skill cap increase and prob the blm or rng would do suffice in an endgame environment... Noone knows what spells will be given to the blm let alone to the whm or even if with this skill cap increase that we will see new ws that will have to be unlocked say like a mnk and asuran fist

If you wanted me to write out every 1% difference, the list would have been 300% long. I made a large gap because I assumed people got my point. Mabe next time I'll write a 300 line one to get my point across.

Also, you seem to have no idea how the magee puppet work. Yes, it needs to be engaged to cast spells. However, it will stand where deployed, or run in to CASTING range (as in, not melee range) and stand there. So there won't be any uneccesary TP feeding since it will be out of melee range.

And I never said it would have better AI then a human. Now you're putting words in to my mouth (news there?) I said its possible to give it a better AI then a human, bu tI highly doubt they'd ever do that.

It is not hard to give them a decent AI to not make retarded shit, and it wouldn't take a super computer to process. It is easy to make conditions for stuff, such as
if true {Player 3 = Engage} cast Blindna else

which could simply means that it only casts Blindna on engaged people. Could make a similar condition so that it prioritizes -na spells on specific jobs.

You seem to be making a huge assumption in that you can only program the most basic things, and anything over casting Cure on someone requires the power of a super computer.

Lol, Gambits from FFXII would be interesting for mage automatons

Eh... the Automaton has the same AI the mobs that cast magic do. It will inch its way up into Casting range. but if it has to do that one too many times it will go up to melee position, nuke and fight at the same time. Although i would blame the master on not being able to control that.

New ammo for COR... Orichalcum Bullets anyone?

You'd make me cry, but honestly at this point I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I think... If the WHM head has a different AI layout then say from the current RDM, then... I think it could be beneficial as a backup healer. I don't see why the AI is limited to a combat only nature. The NPC do it, im sure they can adjust it to WHM features for the Automaton.

Oh double snap! Time to finish taking bst to 75 and time to start up my pup xping again!

I think they should add that. Shouldn't to much of a problem for them. Maybe make the maneuvers enhance the effect and prioritize a list of preset gambits in the automation menu or something. Like each party you can define a member of the party for your automation to focus on there hp if hp under 75%, And if monster above 75%, enfeeble. If enfeeble wears, recast. Nuke below 25%

ex.
Set 3 white(light maneuver) gambits, for three select members hp. you use light maneuver and as it cures it does a little more if those people are below set hp amount. Or if there hurt you could use Fire maneuver or something and instead of healing you could have it use a tier 3 to take out the mob instead of healing like crazy. could work. Would put a lot of stress on the puppetmaster tho, A lot of overloads.

wonder if blu, pup, and cor are getting buyable jse now since SE stated there will be gear for Phantom roll duration? correct me if im wrong tho lol
