What'll be funny is if someone wins on their mule and then gets banned for suspicious delivery box activity after they're forced to send 1 million gil to their main 100 times in a row.

Well you at least have a 50% chance of getting the lowest tier item, assuming you don't repeat any numbers.

Edit: I just realized I was assuming each digit is 0-9. I have no idea what each digit could be.

5 digits ... gotta get all 5 to get rank 1...

00000-99999

1/100000 ?

Dependant on how many mules/accounts we use of course.

But if we get 10 characters to cover every last 2 digits (100k altogether), we stand a 100% to win an item from pool 4, giving us .... 600k~ profit if we pick Behemoth Hide.

Providing the Behemoth hide does plummet in price, which it most likely will considering the amount of gil that is being taken out the game. There will be major after effects of this event on the game economy.
 
100 million gil........ O.o Although some of those items are VERY tempting, I would take the gil. And be set for the remainder of my FFXI life :3

00000 - 99999 is way more than 100000. It's exponential, but I was never very good at this shit in school. You have less than a one in a million chance at hitting it though. If there's 1 million seperate accounts on FFXI; then there's your answer. An easy way to get money out of the players. Not to say I'm not gonna try? 1,000 per entry, 10 entries total. That's makes 10k for a shot at 100mil? Yes, i'm one of those fools who spends 5 bucks on a ticket for the 100mil+ mega millions tickets every now and then. But I won't miss 5 bucks or 10k in the game. I'd love the millions in return. lol

More importantly: Relic is easy to get if people would join LS's and everyone stayed together and worked together for eachother, so taking relic is foolish. Taking homan/nashira gear may be foolish too. You could get that kinda quick I think; right? Now, the rank 1 pieces like the adaman hauberk is very different. I'd take the 100mil personally. Whm is cake with shit gear and nothing special for my ninja. 100mil would go a long way for my ninja though. lol

No, there's 100,000 possibilities. Assuming there can be repeats, for each option there are 10 possibilities. It is exponential, but it comes out being the exact same number because it's 10 numbers per spot. 10^5 = 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 x 10 = 100,000.

If there are no repeats, then there's only 10 x 9 x 8 x 7 6 = 30,240 permutations.
 
Considering how much gil has been removed from the economy, the prizes are really just a fraction of it. This event should proove interesting: Imagine winning that Rank 1 and getting the gil.

This makes things interesting.
 
Something tells me you won't be able to pick the winning prize, so if you do win Rank1 for example, you'll be given something - which, naturally, is the thing you least want from that list.

Yeah it would, but you know....if I won rank 1 prize, and was given something I can't use....I might just tempted to level a job that could use it.
 
but then what if SE gives you skadi body and all you have is mage jobs or something I'm hoping..ffs that SE could at least let you choose that much..

I would hope they look at your jobs before just handing you something. I'm not going to do much with a level 15 THF if I get Assassin's hands or something. I would bet there is a menu from a Moogle that is 'Pick Your Poison' and asks you 37 times "Are you sure, kupo?".
 
TBH, what I'd really want is the ability to grant access to an item you already have to a job that can't use it.
