POL NEWS: next version update

Its not AF2, its Relic... read the news release.

As for the point of it... I dunno how useful it will be if you have to store all 5 pieces, if you can store single pieces then that would be awesome.

SE have always refered to AF2 as relic armour.

AF2 is the name players gave it.

Merit Points
A new graphic effect will be added that will let surrounding players know when you have gained a merit point. Also, you will be able to switch between experience point mode and limit point mode in any area, not just your Mog House.

just like regular af... most of the time.. i have to bring out 5 pieces because i wanna use 1 piece of the AF... Example: Fighter's Calligae, Myochin Kabuto/haidate, Corsair's Tricorne...

Every job has some relic/af armor that they only 'use' 1 piece of the set... it may be more economical to just only have 1 piece of relic you'll actually use instead of getting the full set.

I only have Melee Gaiters and Melee Gloves.

I only intend to have Melee Gaiters and Melee Gloves.

Thanks Mr. Thesaurus. I know what it is, I'm saying that AF2 is not what people should be calling the armor just because some newb called it AF2 before dynamis even came out when it was announced what would drop there.

I agree, just because most of the AF is situational, and I honestly never know what job I will have to play, and usually have to change on last minute notices ...

AF2 better discribes what it is. Relic makes me think of weapons.

Relic sounds cooler, AF2 is a crappy name. Unless it's an AF2 weapon as well, relic is a much better description. I usually think someone got their first piece of artifact armor rather than a piece of relic.

So Relic makes you think of the Artifact Weapon?

If the weapons are undboubtedly labeled Relic, by course of make-sensery, the armor is undoubtedly labeled Relic.

Not to mention, the upgrader strictly says "Relic Armor."

I so regret upgrading my Cleric Mitts right now...well, at least I can store my BST set. Only good piece is the hands, and Beast Affinity more or less turned those to crap (unless you're using Funguars...)

All these merit changes and they can't allow us to merit whatever the hell we want such bullshit.

Hey morons at SE try giving people that attained 75 a decent reward for grinding 75 levels.

The entire point of merits is supposed to be to enhance your level 75 job, not strengthen a job that you just started leveling. That's why you can only upgrade things your 75 job can use, it'd be useless for the 75 job so there's no reason to upgrade it on that job. Try actually learning why things are the way they are before you just say SE is dumb.

If thats the case then why limit merits then?

I mean to enhance hp mp critical and enmity and such is nice don't get me wrong but why limit it there though?

I might not fully understand why SE has merits the way they do but in my opinion i think its stupid that they allow you to merit one thing and not the other
esp when meriting hp mp critical hit rates and enmity is tech enhancing another job and not just the current job at 75

This is my opinion i am not trying to bash anybody here and there was probably no need to say that what SE does is dumb.

What else would there be to merit? You don't like that there's not enough to merit, but then don't offer any options. There really isn't anything they left out that you can't merit.

There is plenty to merit if people have no lives and choose to level every job to 75.

I remember talking to you regarding merits a couple of months ago and you told me that you were wanting to merit hand to hand skill on your whm i believe it was but was disappointed that you could not. not sure if it was those exact words.

Yeah, I was disappointed that I couldn't do most of my monk's merits without even leveling the job, but I understood that merits were meant to be used for the jobs you had at 75. If whm had any hand to hand skill I would have been able to merit out monk, but since whm doesn't, I couldn't so I moved on. SE's reasoning for how merits work was sound, just because you don't agree with it doesn't mean you're right.

As far as weapons go, you could merit every weapon in the game if you leveled war and nin to 75; for magic, smn, rdm, nin, brd would be all it would take, although most of the magics you wouldn't really care about meriting.

If there weren't a cap to how many times you could merit critical hit, everyone would lvl it to 100 and critical hit pretty much every hit.

And if you could merit every weapon, and HP + MP to max, it would probably become a bit overpowered.

They do need to expand the amount of merits you can use into some categories. 8 magic upgrades isn't enough when you can dump them all into one category. I would love to be able to cap enfeebling, elemental, and dark magic on my blm. Even if they just upped it to 12 upgrades for the category it would be nice.

Um i did not say anything about a cap in how many merits you could put into one category. And meriting hp + mp I am not too sure if that would be overpowered or just unneeded Resources at hand, hp wise except for tanks then again regarding tanks your hp matters depending on how your support is i would assume, +mp on the other hand i would assume depends on what u do mostly in your ls group>solo time>help people time, all that stuff.
