Ok I did the update...and now it's saying that Pol.exe isn't there......So I assume I'll have reinstall POL.....how fucked am I?
 
Yeah, It's not letting me connect to POL after i got the update. It's saying there's a network problem, but only POL seems to be effected.
 
Well I got into POL and when I went to log on to FFXI it said couldnt find Playonline id?
 
I know right now I cant get on either, But...be patient the servers are just congested because so many peeps are trying to download and get into game. Remember the maintenace just finished 5 mins ago.
 
I mean when I click my FFXI shortcut....an error pops up saying that the update didn't install the new POL.exe....should I just reinstalll? o. O
 
maintenence isn't done.. it's often you can update before the maintence is done...
 
Plain and simple.....SE has no clue what they are doing when it comes to organizing, distributing, and executing updates.
 
It must be done, if you go to the server check site it says they are all back up.

If I uninstall POL does it uninstall FFXI?
 
Try running FFXI from the C:\Program Files folder and/or the Start Menu and see if you get the same problem. If that doesn't work I would call the SE tech support line (although they are generally worthless morons)...I had a problem with one of my installation discs no longer working, so they gave me an FTP site from which you could download any of the original discs or the RotZ discs directly to your FFXI folder. Maybe they could do that with the patch so that it would write itself to your ffxi.exe folder
 
i had to un-install pol once, when i re-installed it i had a crap load of updates to download again -.-

It let me log on. Once. When I did get online though it froze at "retrieving friend list IDs" and disconnected me. From then on I haven't been able to connect again.
 
meh, I hate having to come home from work and having to update hours at a time ; ;
 
It's funny really....they broke the game up into 20 something servers as to decrease the workload/server....but yet they use ONE server for all the POL stuff....Pure genius SE */em cheer, clap, salute*
 
I just got on finally
 
so i'mnot screwed....I guess POL.exe never stopped running, i just had to reboot
/joy!
 
The new friends list is... odd. The new main menu is cool, mainly because I can finally see that Bibiki Bay wallpaper I downloaded so long ago until the new menu did away with seeing it.
