POLNews - GM Policy (12th December)*Update* - continued from the other thread

there a difference though. quest, craft list other stuff you pull from places like somepage are from players experiences. Parser is from your own experience and your own personal gain. When you information get out from using 3rd party program, it then hurts the gaming community as a whole because you are messing up the economy, nms, crafting, all so you can be less the 1-2% more efficient. Which is why I said dmg has already been done. Everything has already been parse to death and is partly the reason we have half the problem in game. GS mass camping is the other half.
Oh yes, it's really hurting the economy, having people try to buy the expensive gear. Yeah, the crafters are really crying because they can't move their wares fast enough. When Hauby was found out to be better than osode, people started buying more hauby's, which benefited the economy.

People still buy the same amount of gear, they just buy different ones. As skaw already said, the people with enough money will buy the best gear, which will lower the price of the second-best gear for those with less money; it benefits everyone.

Also, please show how parsing in any way effects NM's, because I can't see any way that me knowing my critical hit rate would help me at all.

body A does 5435 dmg per mob body B does 6465 let me tell you that some big analyzing there. And for the record I do have a haubergeon. Don't beilve me im standing right next to the dancing puppet in Whitgate.
Congratulations, you've finally figured out what a parser does, it only took you a month. The parser makes no comparisons at all, it just presents the data in an easily readable format so that you can make the comparison. The analysis isn't difficult, no one ever said it was, but it cannot be done with a parser.

actaually somepage is not datamined. people sumit the info to the site then they update. Why do you think it take them so long to update there stuff. That why you always get it A C F J items have been added. quest W N Z X has been added.

It analyzes Data, alright. Data that already flashed before your eyes. Data you can easily add up without it. Data you can collect while playing without it.

Like RoM said. If you ever used a guide to cut time down on a quest/crafting/mission, you're basically doing what a parser does.

Why do you think most of those pages (somepage included) have those added immediately following a content patch?

On second thought don't strain yourself.

I dunno about you, RoM. But it must be blissful to have mind so simple you can't tell theres a difference between Updating a Webpage, and given information so that you can. Don't you agree?

Protip Hellstorm: Somepage has a forum that gets spammed by dataminers before servers are even up. Thats why items are posted without links to the mobs that drop them. Keep an eye on the activity this Monday. It'll be so blunt that someone as oblivious as you can see it.

So now it about cutting time down? So that mean a person who uses flee hack for getting to point A to point B quick is ok to? Or person who use the smn bot to gain smn skill is ok to? Or the fish botter who uses a bot in order to be able to make money so he don't have to farm is ok? Or how about the cheat that allow you hold as many items as you want so you craft as long as you want? There are doing all the work, so I guess it ok then.

Incorrect, dumbass. Those are all activities that interact with the game. Drink some Bleach, you'll begin to understand in no-time.

But hey, I'm sure you've used a guide to cut down on time. If you have, get off my game, you fucking fleehacker-level cheater.

Yeah, realize how god damn stupid the comparison is?

Parser cuts down on time OUTSIDE OF THE FUCKING GAME

Last I checked, if I did it manually, my character wouldn't be the person adding things up. *I* would.

I'll do ya one better skaw. ;)

So does QCDN usually.

Now then, hell, since you're so objectionable to the use of this 'player gained information' which is simply a facade you've invented to keep you warm at night against he cold hard reality of things. Shouldn't you be leaving now?

Your the one that made the comparsion between guides and parser not me. See how stupid that comparsion is now.

Read the rest, I accidentally clicked post while moving between IRC and IE.

While I'm at it, Quest Guides are actually worse than a Parser is by that logic, since Quest guides remove any guess work from inside the game itself.

Hellstorm, can you not understand what he's saying? Parser is like using a guide to a offline game. Fleehacking, item cheating, and w/e is VERY different.

Fleehacking is like using a gameshark NOT A GUIDE.

Parser =/= Guide

Fleehacking =/= Gameshark

SIMPLE!!!

The comparison is based on YOUR argument. YOUR logic, that's why it's stupid and falls apart. Is there really anything left at this point?

except it not that simple. Guide is person A who has done it before telling person B how to do it.

Parser is someone gathering there tactical data to further there own gain, but using a bot to do it. Using parser is no better then fish botting. I agree flee haxing is worse then parser but so is parser is to guides.

and your comparsion is to your logic, your argument is it not? (well skaw logic)

No, a parser is akin to having two people adding up thousands of numbers, with one given a calculator. It doesn't do anything but display what you've already had displayed. You can see this info again many ways. Recording your exp session with fraps. Recording your exp session with a video camera. Taking screenshots of your chat log. Looking at the log files and extracting the data manually.

The actual program itself removes work you'd have to do outside of the game. Everything you mentioned involves the game actually having to be ran to work. You could copy and paste everything as it gets dumped in to a log file in to a seperate text document and have the parser read THAT instead, producing the same exact results.

I guess when you're losing an arguement, it's natural to just go full circle and start it over again, huh Duncestorm?

No. My logic makes sense and has facts to bolster it as does skaw's. Your argument does not hold up, period. Aside from the meat of it you simply either don't have mastery enough of the language to make your point or don't understand what you're talking about enough to intelligently make a point.

You warrant no further consumption of my insomnia time. Uzor, while ridiculous, was alot more fun. Whereas he could counter you just hit keys until it resembles a quasi-coherent response filled with failure.

Edit: and it's not a fucking bot, jesus christ..... a bot executes commands a parser crunches numbers and puts them in an easy to analyze format with regards to the performance of you and those around you for the benefit of the player but moreover has become a community benefit because the information was shared, much as a number of players had shared their experiences which echod what the parser had shown previous to your little brainfart here. The parser does nothing the community itself can't do, therefore if the community can accept the validity of a guide the community has no choice but to accept the validity of the parser .. which i'm going to go out on a limb and guess a player made as a community resource much like your hallowed player guides.

Edit Edit: The parser also doesn't give a shit what gear you use. The parser simply parses, it's on you to decide what's better, therefore it cannot contribute to the erosion of the 'free to play as i please' crowd (a more than valid claim when represented with intelligence, mind you) anymore than the free will of a player who simply wants to do better and pays attention to their numbers and gear combinations.

of course the his argument make sense you use the program and don't want to be a cheater. So anything that is not calling you a cheater you are agreeing with. And yes parser is cheating and is a bot.
