poor Pluto :P

interesting, but in a way a bit sad that science is always overwriting their laws as they discover more, makes you wish that they never assume in the first place so we could always be right.

it's called religion.

it's true though... :P

I read the thing they said about it on www.space.com, and in my oppinion, its bullshit. They decide to make it a dwarf planet because of a poll that 427 people participated in, which was only 5% of the people who were supposed to vote?

How does that even make sense? that would be like electing a president when only 5% of the population voted... They didn't make the decision based on research, they made it based on a poll. And all so that some egoistic son of a bitch can feel better about himself because he can't find any new planets, but can now be better then the guy who found pluto because he can find a lot of stuff smaller then pluto?

Are scientists really that selfish and stupid and stuck up so that everything which doesn't fit in can be real or exists? Carl Von Linné ruined a lot of perfectly fine flowers because they were different from the rest of the flowers in the same species. He simply destroyed every evidence of that flower and said "This doesn't exist, I've never seen it, understood?" That's exactly what scientists are doing now, and only to prove themselves better then other scientists.

I think they did this because when Pluto was discovered it was the only thing in the Kupier belt we knew about. Now that we can see further into the belt we are finding that there are literally hundreds of "rocks" just like Pluto there. So unless you'd like our solar system to contain about 80-100 planets eventually, it is best to eliminate all the ice dwarves from the beginning and not worry about it later when we are finding hundreds of other "rocks" like pluto.

I really think its childish to believe they demoted Pluto because of a poll...lol As if scientists care what the people think.

But then again if one never assumed you would be ignorant of what around you. Science is amazing sometimes and others faulty

Its not really sad. I think something is sad when you have overwhelming need for a change, yet you take an old belief and stick to it no matter what, even if you don't have any evidence to prove anything(i.e. religion). Science is everchanging because it is -willing- to make changes, and even correct things it believed to be right in the past.

PS. Sorry if my religion comment offends anyone :P

If anyone is offended by the religion comment, take a look at what religion inspires. There should be more empathy for the victims of religion, and less being offended by voices, in this case text, that doesn't harm anyone.

But there's not hundreds of rocks just like how Pluto are ; ;

Scientist 1 - "Well Bob, we havn't made any space advancements in awhile, what have you got for us?"

Scientist 2 - "Well me and the guys have come up with the grand idea, we will disown pluto from our solar system to outdate all the schoolbooks we currently have, not to mention various other things."

Scientist 1 - "Excellent..."

I agree.

But that's not true. A russian cosmonaut is scheduled to play golf on the international space station.

I was exaggerating...but the number is definitely up in the double digits of just what scientists have found. Which doesn't include many of them we may have never even seen.
