Portal: Still Alive

portal is an amazing game, not just a lame arcade game

Is it like the original Portal but different levels? If so, it's a retail quality game and the price is fine.

It's the original game with some extra puzzles (no new story, however) and new Achievements. It's definitely worth the $15. I would've easily paid twice that if I didn't already own The Orange Box.

So the game's not worth getting not because of the content, but where you're playing the game?

Quite the opposite really.

Some arcade/psn games are high enough quality that if they were longer they would be able to be sold on disc in a retail outlet. Some are essentially the same quality as flash games that are all over the internet for free.

Unless there's a LOT of extra puzzles, I'm not going to get this. I already have the Orange Box. If I didn't this would be a great deal, Portal is the only part of the box I actually liked.

No, I'm saying that it costs $15 because it is a quality game, not your average xbox live arcade game.

The article said there are 14 new regular maps and 6 new advanced ones. For how fast i played through the first portal that $15 could be better spent. I'm not saying its not a great game, i'm saying that $15 is pretty expensive for something i'm gonna blow through in a matter of hours.

Fixed it for ya hommie

I personally dislike Portal with a passion. It's simple and boring. Not sure why it garners the praise it does.

I want a portal mod that creates warp pipes jutting from walls, floors, and ceilings.

Out of curiousity, did you play through the whole game? Beating the advanced maps and getting gold on all the challenges is pretty damn hard (and probably the most fun I've had with a game), especially using a controller.

Anyway I would definitely buy this, if I didn't have rrod...

Yeah. I didn't try to collect everything though, don't even remember havin' to collect things. Nor did I do the advanced maps. I just beat the normal game that came with the Orange Box. Doesn't really matter how hard it is to do either of those, if the game isn't fun it just isn't worth goin' the extra mile in.

Really, if you like the Half-Life universe, Portal has a few easter eggs that clue you in on a few things from Half-Life 1. Not to mention the obvious plot line at the end of Episode 2, and likely the majority of Episode 3.

I find Half life pretty boring in general. I mean, I like it and dislike it at the same time. Parts of it are really inventive and fun with great design, but parts of it are really freaking boring and lame.

Portal is just great, don't know how someone could dislike it so much.

I just downloaded this game, it's really fucking awesome.

With...
Fable 2
Saints Row 2
Far Cry 2
Deadspace
LBP
Midnight Club LA
And a few other games just released... I understand LBP was pushed back but its so close.

I just dont see how Portal is even on the average gamers radar.. It is not on my radar for sure.

Probably because the average gamer is being crushed under the budgetary hurricane of all those games landing at once. Getting a good game like Portal for $15 is a small blessing when you stack it against all the other $60 time-sinks. Then again, I could be completely full of shit on that one.

$15 for a 45 minute experience. And there is absolutley no reason to play again if you allready know how to solve the puzzle...

$60 for a game with up to 20 hours of gameplay... Then add on the reasons to play again, which for most the games just released there are a ton of reasons.

If you dont have the $60 just dont buy a gam..
