Ok, after reading the link that Ruffy posted about Alla, and someone mentioning that they had to change their IP... I called up Shaw Cable, who is my ISP and told them I needed to get this done.

They instructed me to change the last 4 digits of my "MAC Address" (told me to chose anything random) which in turn ended up changing my IP address. I had to unplug my modem, but as soon as I reconnected and had a new IP address, and logged into FFXI everything was fine!

I have no idea how I ended up changing my "MAC address" because i'm not that computer literate and just followed the guy's instructions, but its worth a try for anyone who is having the problem of having their characters have "R0" in areas, and then disconnecting because of that problem.

Hope that helps!
(mwahahahaahhahaha, gotta try my other mules and make sure this works >_<)

To change your MAC address, you can tipically open Internet Explorer, put in your routers IP (168.152.0.1) or something like that, and voiala, you can access all your settting.

Ok!!! i had vierified the R=0 problem, in Tharongi, Meripateud, Garlaige, West Altepa, and Port Jeuno....
Following many people adivice here, on allkazham, and other forum, i succeded changing my ip... now i can't enter Low Jeuno and Konschaht.... THIS IS ffxi server problem related to firewalling or other security issues, it can't send data of different maps to different ip classes or addresses....

I managed to get back online by changing my MAC address as well. I had to leave my modem unplugged for about an hour though, to force an IP change (my previous attempt of 10 minutes wasn't enough)

Well now that I'm back online, I get to experience the R0s. Everything worked fine until I zoned into Southern Sandy, then immediate R0. I've already changed the IP once.

I gave this a shot, but all it did was move R0 from some areas to some other areas. It's a handy fix if you're stuck somewhere that you can't easily zone (like an airship or Al'Taieu), but unless you somehow manage to luck upon a mac address/IP that doesn't have R0 for *any* zones, all this seems to do is substitute one problem for another.

That really sucks ; ;

I haven't tried all zones yet, but so far so good with the new IP address I setup.

just realized, standard router ip is (192.168.0.1) if you dont know yours, try that to get into your router settings

now, when u say this, do you have to be on the computer that the router is connected to? and if so where can i find this area to change all of this information?

It depends what service you have, i have Qwest, and when i type that in (on a computer in the network) it brings me a front page of the router setup. Theres a few options like "Basic setup", "advanced setup" etc. After toying around i could make my way to a part to change my IP

Is this also a fix for the 3113 error?

i keep r0ing in Sacrarium ; ; sucks

Try this: Exit FFXI.

Click on Start, go to run and type in "cmd" and click Ok.

Type (no quotes) "ipconfig /release"

wait like 20 seconds

Type (no quotes) "ipconfig /renew"

Type (no quotes) "exit"

Try FFXI again.

If that doesn't work try totally powering down your modem, router and computer. Bring the cable modem up first, wait a couple minutes, then router, wait a couple then turn on PC. If that doesn't work try another release/renew with FFXI closed and try again.

No clue if this will actually help but it seems FFXI caches your IP address somehow. After my PC crashed once I got a new IP and FFXI would error out immediately after I tried to login to POL. release/renew fixed it for me.

I was r0-ing in Eastern Altep last night, but I was able to, slowly but surely, make my way to the zone line and I was fine in Western Altep, Rabao, and Jeuno, but I hit r0 in Promyvion-Dem when we were going to do an ENM there and now I'm completely stuck, because there's no physical zone line like outside.

I've tried everything I've read as recommendations to no avail.

-changed my private IP
-changed my WAN IP
-had my ISP reset my modem
-changed the MAC address on my routing hardware
-deleted my winsock reg keys

Nothing's worked at all. Guess it's just time to wait until tomorrow and see if they come up with anything when people get back to the office.

EDIT - I updated my router's firmware and that did the trick for me. Haven't tried a tremendous number of zones yet, to see if I still have a problem or not, but I was at least able to get out of Promyvion-Dem and went through an Assault, so my confidence is returning.

I'm having the same problem, SIGNET based zones and areas only. Sanction zones, no problem anywhere. HMMMMM....

that's interesting...cause thats the only place i hear are having problems...fucking SE and their last ditch efforts to save the signet zones

Hehe I know someone who is having problems getting on their main character cause of this. SE told him that it was his ISP and an equipment problem. Which I find is bs cause there is alot of people experiencing this.

Concerning the Connectivity Issue (Mar. 9)

We understand some players are currently experiencing connectivity issues. Our team of technicians investigated and confirmed that our FINAL FANTASY XI servers are working properly, and our service is not experiencing any technical difficulties at this time.

If you are having connectivity issue at this time, try connecting to FINAL FANTASY XI again at a later time.

BULLSHIT!

Question does anyone ever able to get back on even after seeing this error a few times? Or once you see it, your screwed until you attempt to fix it?

i cant change my ip, i tried running cmd and got an error, and the IP in an earlier post leads me nowhere, looks like i'll ahve to wait till SE decides this s thier problem
