My Fave book of all time is The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupéry..

I'm also a Harry Potter fan

Favorite Author:

Stephen King/Richard Bachman

Favorite Book:

The Stand (best series is his Dark Tower series)

I've also been a fan of R.A. Salvator (though his writting style has gotten stagnant imo), Margret Weis/Tracy Hickman, Raymond E. Feist, Terry Brooks, Guy Gavriel Kay, Robert Ludlum, CS Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and I am sure there are more but these are off the top of my head.

Survivor, Fight Club, Diary . . . love Chuck Palahnuik . . .

then there's Harry Potter and H.P. Lovecraft . . .

those would be my top three authors

hmmm....

The Talisman and Blackhouse -Stephen King/Peter Straub

The Winter King - Not sure. If anyone can tell me it would be greatly appreciated, as I loved the book to death but it's been years since I read it.

Some of my favorite books in no particular order:

The Handmaid's Tale - Margaret Atwood
The Stand - Stephen King
Dune (series) - Frank Herbert
Discworld (series) - Terry Pratchett
Lucifer's Hammer - Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle
Harry Potter (series) - J. K. Rowling
The Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien
Carrion Comfort - Dan Simmons
Watchers - Dean Koontz
The Day of the Triffids - John Wyndham
Something Wicked This Way Comes - Ray Bradbury
The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien
Weaveworld - Clive Barker

The authors I read pretty regularly: Stephen King, Clive Barker, H.P. Lovecraft, Nevada Barr, Terry Pratchett, John Grisham, J.K. Rowling, Chuck Palahniuk, Tony Hillerman, Michael Crichton, Stephen Baxter, F. Paul Wilson (Repairman Jack forever!), Margaret Atwood.

i assume because i am me and thus inherently arrogant AND have read all of the aforementioned books I read as much as all of you put together. That being said, i ralize the difference in validations of books and the purposes of the author in the writing of the book. every good book validates itself and is incomparable to any other book... i'm a huge fan of fantasy as an escapist, realizing the suckyness of RL i find alternate realities where things are differen, if not better. the books i RE-read most are....

J.R.R. Tolkein- just the 4, masterfully worked

Guy Gavriel Kay: the Fionavar tapestry ( summer tree, the wandering fire, the darkest road). I have never before or since these books cried in a book but these books had passion and, poetry heartbreak and tragedy enough to make me cry.

Anything Tamora Pierce, this is Juvenile fiction/fantasy and it rocks, to read start at the book Allana and move from there...

Piers Anthony... self explanitory.

i also like R.A. Salvatore... mostly everything... his corona works suck.

The Running Man
The Hobbit
Earthworm Jim Manual
Super Fudge

1984- George Orwell

Dangerous Angels- Francesca Lia Block

The Godfather- Mario Puzo

Innocence- Jane Mendelsohn

Fast Food Nation- Eric Schlosser

Lecan, I'm pretty sure the author of Winter King is Richard Cromwell, or something similar to that. I have to find my copy...you should also read
"Enemy of God" and "Excalibur", the other two parts to Derfels tale. Excellent books, amongst my favorites.

That being said, lets list some sets:

Winter King |
Enemy of God | Richard Cromwell
Excalibur |

All of the 'Dark Elf' books from R.A. Salvatore. I've never read his other stuff, but i'm insanely in love with the Drizzt series of books.

Currently, i'm quite fond of reading Robert E. Howards books. Back in the 20's, he wrote the Original Conan the Barbarian stories. But that wasnt all. He created a Puritan Character known as Solomon Kane, which I am enamored with also right now.

I'd seriously suggest any fantasy swords and sorcery fan to go out and pick up these three Robert E. Howard books:

The Savage Tales of Solomon Kane
The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian
The Bloody Crown of Conan

I am a big fan of the Ender's Game series by Orson Scott Card.

Harry Potter of course, duh, I'm a blackmage. =p

I really really really recommend this little known book called Shade's Children by Garth Nix. Here check it out.

I like the Thief of Always by Clive Barker.

I enjoyed the hobbit but found the other books to be a pain to read.

The Human Stain by Phillip Roth.

Dante's Inferno.

The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald.

I most recently enjoyed reading Machiavelli's The Prince, though I had to force myself to trudge through the puzzling writing.

My all time favorite book goes back to when I was a little kid. The very first time I actually enjoyed reading something. And that would be The Giver by Lois Lowry. Simply a classic that I assume most of you have read.

Terrance Goodkind - Sword of Truth series. Straight up. It's like uber LOTR and Harry Potter. Sept it's better 8)

I dont read much but the only book that I actually enjoyed so much that I started to read it during my free time was Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. Started reading Sahara now and its pretty good too =)

Oh I forgot Jack London! I have loved his books since I was knee high to a taru.
:P

1984- George Orwell

and Animal Farm as well 2 excellent books

Catch 22
War of the Worlds

The Stranger - Albert Camus
The Sound and the Fury - William Faulkner
Tao Te Ching - Lao Tzu
