A couple days ago, I heard something about a "Power Skill-up" I would like to know what this is, because I am kinda tight in Gil wise, and I need to get to at least level 80 in cooking by the end of the week.

If you're tight in gil, then it's not gonna happen. Basically it's when people piss away massive amounts of gil to get their crafting skills up at any cost. Many of the people who do this find themselves with mid-high level craft and no concept of what synths to do to make back the gil they lost, because they didn't bother with subtelties like searching for NPC vendors or scanning the AH for good potential sales.

Edited to add: I can give you some tips on levelling Cooking if you'd like, even at a profit in most levels, but it's not gonna happen in 3 days, haha.

cooking wont get you the kind of gil you want, trust me i have 90 cooking and the only way to make money is to HQ shit which means even if your 100 cooking if you wanna HQ something regurarlly you need to do it on a full moon to make it worth wile :P

Yea, there are always the legendary power skill upers out there that lose tens of millions where a moderetly intelligent (They have the mental aptitude to whipe there own ass) would not. Ask some of the old clothcrafters about Duncanrun sometime... Though I must say, I have learnt to turn a nice profit from their stupidity. People powerlvling clothcraft bought me my haubergan by there sheer laziness. Refusing to make your own silk cloths is lazziness no matter how you look at it...

From what I hear you dont make massive gil from alot of crafts unless you make HQ items or you farm your own items(the ones the cost alot at least).

As for leveling up cooking. Well its going to be awhile unless you have alot of money since the skill ups start coming slower as you get higher and higher in skill. Basically that means you need to synth more and if you dont have gil then you gotta wait for stuff to sell...

Okay, I'm a beginning tailor and that comment about Duncanrun has my interest piqued. What's the story behind him?

ok...

I wouldn't mind the help in cooking, but as for cooking not making much profit, IDK I do it for fun, and I'm not quitting now, I'm level 76. w00t

I think Cooking is a good craft to level on a mule... im gonna levle it on a taru :D

about powerleveling.... some people just have the gil and want to get their craft up there, so they have every right too.... a lot of the times its expierenced crafters who powerlevel a 2nd craft to 60 or to 100 on a mule

::the end of the world flash voice:: WRONG!

30 mins to turn all the thread into cloth or you could use that 30 mins actually making the item that your going to sell, buying the cloth saves you time thus allowing you to make MORE money in a shorter ammount of TIME ^^

You missed the whole point of Dire's post, silk cloth sells for about 30k more than it costs for 3 stacks of silk thread. If your skilliing up, that saves you a ton of gil.

When going for HQ's that makes sense, but why in the world would you want to waste that much gil when a few minutes of making cloth saves so much more gil skilling up.

yes, it is cheaper to make your own silk cloth... which i've been doing recently but selling it back on AH for a tiny profit.

for skilling up yes, silk cloth is the way to go, any other time your making money its better to buy from AH ^^/

12 synths is what, 8 minutes? Add on the extra time making 3 more AH purchases, and you're still under 10 minutes. 10 minutes of work to save 30k seems worthwhile to me.
