I...Don't....Know...*gulp*...
A while back, after I had killed Lizzy for the boots, a player asked me for some gil and I, being the fucking pushover that I am, lent her/him 5k towards their aspir scroll. Two weeks ago this person gives me another /tell asking for gil again, I had 900 total so I said "Sorry, no can do" and thought that it was kinda rude to ask someone for gil twice when you don't even know them. Today after reactivating my PLayonline account, I logged on and got a /tell again from the same person asking for gil, I said "I lent you 5k a while back, I think it's a bit rude to ask for gil over and over again when someone has helped you out already." She/he didnt reply. I've been asked for gil a number of times, not only by this person, having "Mentor" status up seems to make people think the M stands for Money, or maybe they forgot the AT at the beginning because I have been /tell'ed or /say'ed numerous times from players asking for gil when I had my mentor flag up. This just pissed me off and I had to vent.

=/ those people don't know the words...F-A-R-M
you should have said this " Hey give me a break i already lend you gil and do you know the word Farm?...if you do, then bloody farm alright? thank you for your cooparation " XD

Oh and I didn't double post on purpose, I actually don't even know why this happened, I didn't double click or reload or anything like that, simpy posted and closed.

i have this happen all the time...grr what a pain in the ass. and if its not gil they want, they want you to do something for them. the fact they ask for help is no big deal, but the ones that are real persistant are the ones that get to me.
last night i had a similar thing happen. it wasnt for gil but may as well have been. farming lumber in ghelsba, where there is people having to compete to get to the logging point first, i had a person persistantly ask me if i would give him a hatchet. i staright out said "no". he also invites me to pt and asks for gil to get a hatchet. it probably wouldnt be so bad if they knew how to ask politely.
and to add a rant to this....I HATE BLIND INVITES

Give a man some gil, and he's in new armour for a level or two. Tell him to get his own stinkin' gil and he's... hrm... well, he'll probably just go ask someone else, but hey... at least you'll still have your gil!

you forgot to add the z/s to the end of gil... Most people ask for more than one....

-Ham

PS ya I know theres not supposed to be an s at the end...

Just do what I did once. Say something along the lines of "Yes! Just go down to Palborough Mines, kill a bunch of Quadav and you can have some gil!"

plan

Ran into someone that always asked for gil. Partied with them, and I made the mistake of lending them 3k. Said that they were going to pay it back in a week. It's been 4 months now, and I've been running into this guy every now and then and no fail he asks to borrow some gil. Which I then proceed to remind him of the initial 3k. Long pause before the response. Then tells me that he'll have it as soon as possible. Back then, 3k was a big deal to me at lvl 15whm, now that I mine in gusgen mines, it's not a big deal anymore. But it sure leaves a bitter taste, so my policy has been, when I get any requests from this guy, I politely says no, even though I more than ready to help others especially in my LS. He's a nice guy, but a little bit too needy IMO. And if this particular GILFARE recipient is reading this: GET A JOB! I've earned everything that I have. Okay, done venting. whew. I feel better now.

I get at least one per day /sigh..........

They /check you and then assume you are rich :(
which is usually the furthest thing from the truth, seeing as how once you buy all that bad ass gear you are broke as hell after ward.

I had some jackhole try to dupe me today.. his name was Starmetalx, or something very close to that. I dont remember exactly. He was a lvl 47 Drk i think, and he examined me like 3 times, then followed up by sending me a tell "HELP!!!".

I'm thinking wtf? Because i see him right infront of me at the lower jueno ah, and im wondering what the hell does he so desperately need help for, he isnt dying.

He proceeds to tell me he wants me to give him 29k gil, so he can buy a new scythe. But he's give me his current scythe (Mythril Scythe) and some other crap.. so I check the AH for what a Mythril Scythe goes for, its only 20k.

Durring my whole time looking at the AH he kept sending me tells wanting comfirmation.. it was very rude and annoying. Then he /traded with me to show me what else he was willing to give me. It was all crap, garbage i didnt want or need. So I quickly just told him to get his own damn gil, i mean 29k? geesh go out and farm that shit. I dont care how ya do it, just do it.

Some people are really fucking stupid. If you want a particular item save up for it yourself, or pay someone else to get it for you.

Now, if he had actually offered me an item worth 29-30k i would have taken him up on his offer. Thing is.. he wanted me to use that crap and auction it for the refund. Screw that, id lose gil in the process. Why he couldnt put it up for auction himself is beyond me. Idiots, I hate them.

I like this idea. It's a little evil, but it's smart. However, I don't think I could make people do that. That being said, the only person I've lent money to is people in my LS because basically....there's more of a bond there so I know they'll pay me back. And other people who show acts of good faith generally get them in return too. I had someone lend me two hawker knives +1 to level without even telling me he was giving them to me. Of course I gave them back but geez, in heinsight, that's pretty trusting. Even moreso than the batcheporu incident.

Also on a side note. Asking for gil donations on the board is not much different than asking for gil in the game. More or less, you're playing on the sympathy that people on the board have an obligation to you. Just ask for a farming party or something.

i was fishing in east ron the other day (i know nothing about fishing, i was just doing it for fun)... and this guy randomly comes up and asks me for 50k.

i have no idea what he needed 50k for, but i sure as hell didn't have it, the most i've ever had at one time was about 6k. i wasn't even my mnk, (who isn't all that high lvl in the first place)i was out there with whm at 6. so WHAT THE CRAP?! i sent him a tell that said <I don't speak any english> just because i'm not into yelling at people. somehow he bought it o_O

usualy I hand this situation with a /slap /slap /slap /slap /slap /say tp 100%! /ws "Bitch Slap" <t>
