Each position and job in the game requires skill.

i'll agree with this as long as you agree that blm DOES require skill to be good at it ;)

if you dont then i'll stand by the melee requires no skill to be good roll.

i change gear (clothes) as much as a high school girl trying to impress a guy. then there are the blms that think its ok the wear just blm af and black cloak is the best the always wear. um yeah ok, please stop taking my invites if you think that and go read up on your job and gear ;)

thats my 2 cents, but ya i think every job requires skill to be good at it. there are always the jobs that you can just float through fast and still suck cause you have no skill in it(some rdms i just wish i could slap them and take that pimp hat away cause they dont deserve it). then there are the jobs that lvl slow but w/out skill you still suck it just takes you like 2yrs the lvl it instead of 3 months(and you lfp everyday).

k i'll stop now :)

I got 65 lvls on my taru drg so far, all after the penta gimping and before this new update.

probably the worst thing was seeking for 2 weeks straight which lead to me switching over to blm, lvling it to 75 then returning to my drg which was 42 and been working on that for a while now

oh and I've heard people say the old drg gimp thing but they just sound stupid to me.

drg has always been my favorite job since I first lvled it and one day I hope to make it good enough to retire my blm (which I'm thinking will require getting relic lance fully upgraded ><)

oh and this morning I had boreal hound fun so my highest damage ever is now on drg^^

We already had a "Real 2-hour"

Please Read

Dragoon's 2-hour is both a blessing and a curse. No other ability is meant to last indefinately(blessing) and could last less than a moment when killed in a single AoE attack. I always loved having a Dragoon in parties with my thief because they could get TP fairly fast, open distortion for me and always turned the mob regardless even without voke, but if a single AoE attack kills his/her wyvern, then the DRG is just a lackluster WAR(most common sub). SE didn't need to change the 2-hour, but it did need to make it so the wyvern has a better chance at survival. Whether SE made Spirit Link a shorter recast time or wyverns were cureable by spells, then I think it might be enough.

Another problem I heard from a DRG once was the lack of gear. A dragoon cannot equip hauberk/haubergian whereas most other melee can. They are left with either SH which lacks any +att/str or assault jerkin which has some +attack and accuracy but isn't available till level 67. I think the choice of hauberk or haubergian(whichever is the lower level/lighter version) might have made DRG a more welcomed choice. Having that extra elite piece of gear might have made people think the job was so weak.

This might be a blessing for dragoons tho. I have never seen many strategies for BCNMs, Gods or HNMs that involved DRG much or at all for that matter. Maybe now with some added/boosted abilities, they may have a more key role than some random filler job.

Now onto this whole deal about 'New Dragoon' as opposed to the old form which I myself come from. This thread to me is pointless. I don't care whether you came from pre-Penta Thrust nerf, present day Dragoon, or future Dragoon. If there is one thing that seperates the Dragoon job from all other jobs is the hidden honor code that lies behind it all. The job itself is based on a bond between us and our wyverns, but it goes beyond that. Dragoons stick together more than any other job and are there through the good and the bad times. I don't know how many times Cerescole, Eleibfrid, and Kirayamoto all helped me through these times. They were the ones I looked up to as an aspiring Dragoon. There is just a different way in which we operate, and it seems to lie more upon a brotherhood or tradition and honor, more than just wearing the same Purple armour.

"^^" very well said. go go, Lani!

edit: sorry for thread necromancy >< I like...never come here anymore XD /phail

when I first started this game two years ago Dragoon was all I wanted to be. I've always loved reading fantasy books and dragons were always my favorite to read about. I remember back when I was first started seeing some of our server's well known drgs and drooling over their awsome armor. Now that I am finally getting up there I am proudly taking up the lance and saluting my fellow dragoons :D
