Greetings my fellow BLU's! I have some (probably silly) questions since I have finally reached level 70 on my Blue Mage about the G5 fight. Being a Galka I am a little nervous, not only because this is my 1st G5 fight..but my shallow MP pool. I just don't know if I'll have the MP to survive.

The biggest question that is on my mind is how hard is it to get my Testimony? My roommates seem to think that it'll be near impossible and are slightly reluctant to help me with that. Plus I'm missing some spells that I will probably need (heh..I need them now as a matter of fact) that again...my roomies are just reluctant to help me get.

My 2nd question: Are there any must have set physical spells for this fight? I've seen a few setups from people here and there on other forums and each on varies slightly. Just wondering if I need to go out spell hunting for that one overall damaging spell.

What about magical spells? Do I need to get (or set) the ones that debuff or just the ones that buff myself? As a Galka I won't be using too many of them for damage per say. I know Frost Breath is a must for the paralyze effect and that Refueling and Cocoon will help me greatly.

My final question is always the big one....any gear setups that I must have? Currently I'm set up for lots of ACC. I might list the setup later on. I use other spells to help buff my other stats at the moment. Downside is damage output is low if its not a Campaign mob..and I know this won't be an easy fight. Perhaps my AF would come in handy here?? Any thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated!!

Personally never done this fight, but I think I remember reading somewhere of people using Radiant Breath (add effect: slow and silence). After that, maybe a blinding spell, then just fast physical dmg (setting zephyr mantel + diamondhide would hurt for defense). Just some ideas. Again, I've never done the fight.

As far as the test, you can probably shout for a spell run/test run to get people in Whitegate. Wiki says it's dropped by Mimickers, so that shouldn't be a big deal with help (they are only DC to 75, should be T-VT for lvl 70). Good luck. ^^

Thanks for the reply Ewok! Almost forgot about that spell. If the silence can stick (even for a little bit) it would DEFINATELY help out.

So far I've just been farming for gil to buy the items that I'll need for the fight. Just the usual...Opo-Opo Necklace, drinks, food, potions, Icarus Wing, etc etc. I'll probably start shouting for spells/testimony sometime this week. Just to see what kind of responses I get from people. If things go well I'll be able to try the fight this week. And maybe...just maybe (ok...a BIG maybe)...I'll be able to win the fight and continue to 75!

I'll let you all know how the fight goes.

Like I said though, those were all just suggestions, based on what little I've read on the fight. Hope all goes well, plenty left on the job to do past 70 :)

DING!

WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I am now 1/2 on this fight and G5 IS FINALLY DONE!!

The first fight I royally screwed up. Slept to 200TP, buffed, went to rest and forgot that I had my dark staff in my rest macro and in my inventory. 200TP down the drain. So time ran out for that run.

Once I got my 2nd test I tried again (just a few mins ago). Here's what I had set and what I did.

Spells:
Frost Breath
Spinal Cleave
Frenetic Rip
Headbutt
Dimensional Death
Death Scissors
Sickle Slash
Jet Stream
Uppercut
Metallic Body
Zephyr Mantle
Coccon

Went in with my AF on and slept to 125TP. Buffed and rested (made sure to leave the staff in the mog house), ate my food, drank my drinks and went in. Started as far away as I could and used Burst Affinity and then Frost Breath (348 dmg) . Casted Cocoon and Chain Affinity while he walked over and hit him with Vorpal Blade (262). Then used Spinal Cleave (398) which made Detonation (174). I forgot to 2hr right after the skill chain so my next spell...Dimensional Death did 152. Critted with my sword (78) then I could finally use Azure Lore and finished him with Death Scissors (336).

He only hit me once (thanks to Zephyr Mantle)..and it was for a whopping 10 dmg! He also used 2 spells, one was interruped by the paralyze from Frost Breath. The other one was Frightful Roar which didn't seem to do much. At the end of the fight I had used roughly half of my MP. I stared out in the mid 300's and ended with about 130 or so left.

To those of you reading this wondering how I managed this....much of this fight is luck. I have read threads like mine and read others where the person is completely obliterated by the master blu right out of the gate. Altana was definately on my side today. It could've gone completely wrong had he used other spells or eaten through my blink and stoneskin faster. So to the Blue Mage's that are out there trying to complete this fight and had no luck so far. Just keep at it. If I can do it with my crappy gear and missing spells (HB and Refueling are the big ones) then you can do it as well.

Congrats!

Yeah, if he's anything like the Mamool Ja BLUs, his spell selection is pretty random. lol @ them for casting pollen, only heals 30 hp for them like us >.>
