Pres. Obamas Inauguration

I wouldn't be embarrased. Bush is a retard. >_>

Eh, its over and done. I vehemently disagree with torture which is why I disagree with Bush, but I was never up in arms about it. Just like I'm not up in arms about people showing their disaffection towards him. He did a lot of things wrong.

Despite all his wrongdoings, he did a lot of things right. I feel he acted in the best interests of what he felt would secure the populace of America. He made progress to help make transitions easier so that we're not as vulnerable in such time periods.

That said, I extend a large portion of good will to Obama. Rick Warren is on the same level as gum is on the bottom of my shoe, but if Obama continues to reach out to ALL Americans, even those I _basely_ disagree with, then maybe he CAN do something extraordinary. He had better be consistent in reaching out to everyone or it won't work. I know I have high hopes, but its possible we'll see a few good things over the coming years.

Yes but there's no excuse for bad behavior. Booing in any regard is distasteful and down right ignorant, even though I agree with him being a 'retard'.

Obama probably was embarrassed on some level. He's now stepping in for a man that was voted in President of the United States. A man the USA voted in I'm sure by many of the same people that voted Obama himself as President, only to witness the former President be disrespected in front of billions of people.

My instincts tell me Obama is a man of integrity and class.

hehe, I wanted to watch it so bad :( but I couldn't, had class.

Oh, and I love how everyone is getting so crazy about Obama (and crazy about Bush). People really don't seem to understand what the President can or can not do. Funny when people blame Bush on the economic crisis, he isn't the cause, banks and their toxic mortguages and such are a big part of it, and some other aspects are the cause. Did he help? no, but he is NOT the cause.

As for Obama, do you really think he'll be able to do everything he wants? No, I doubt it. Do I think he has some good ideas, ya. But he's not an emperor or a king, he can't make everything he wants happen just like that. And even so, we are in one hell of a debt, we might not even have the ability TO do a lot of what he wants unless the American people are willing to accept even more debt. Maybe with the incredible faith they have put into Obama, he can get them to accept it, but right now, so far, the people are very unhappy with the deficit and debt.

It's just funny to me how people can so inaccurately assess what the President each era can do and will do :P and inaccurately judge what the are the cause of.

Anyways, gonna watch it online tomorrow cause I hear it was a really good speech :D

I just hope people realize this is a massive clean up job that will take a long time. I would be impressed if he was turning a corner as his first four years were up.

And $150+ million dollars (low end of estimates) a day on Iraq doesn't exactly help things when it comes to the economy.

Deregulation is something that is very much Bush's fault, along with Reagan and his ridiculous and flat out wrong "trickle down effect" labeled Reaganomics that has completely screwed the system.

You can blame the corporations and bankers, and rightfully so (this is why I think libertarianism is a failed concept, free markets have to be fair, and that will never happen) but don't forget those who enabled them to do so.

Anyways, I don't really care about the speech to be honest, we all know the man can make half the nation cry if he wants through words. I was just happy he didn't get shot while he was outside of his car during the parade. Being from the south, I will live in perpetual fear of what crazed, ignorant individuals will try to do for the next 4-8 years.

Reaganomics was such a bad joke :P I hate Reagan, I think he's our worst president ever. And the one good thing people claimed he did, end the cold war, he didn't do. Russia ended it themselves, they drove themselves to collapse lol

NO!

I almost feel bad for Obama. He could have one hell of a great presidency, but a lot of people are going to be disappointed because their expectations are so high. My friend showed me this story:

I am not kidding this really happened. A client told me that his housekeeper quit today and is going to Washington DC on a bus with some people from her church for the inauguration. He offered her the time off, but she still insisted on resigning because she said she would not need the job now that Obama was President. Perplexed he asked what Obama being President had to do with it, to which she answered that she could move out (my client provided her room, board, and a car) and make it on her own now. The client still perplexed asked her what she was going to do and the housekeeper told him that she was going to get a housing allowance and a $1,000 per month. She told him that Obama promised to take care of people and that a person in her church told her about the “allowance” program last year. Even though it is less then she gets paid she feels she will be better off after next week…

I thought he was joking. He said he tried to reason with her but all she would do as give him a dismissive smile and shake her head in disagreement. He then tried to advise her to at least wait until the so-called “allowance” began, she could always quit after that. She told him she had managed to save a little money and she would fine. She would live with a relative for a while until the “allowance” started. She might work with her nephew who said that he was going to use some of the “allowance” money to start a business.

This is nuts….

UPDATE

My client is a fairly successful farmer in South Georgia. I talked to him again on Friday. (Oh, and for the record, I also thought he was feeding me line at first.) In any case, he said she quit on Wednesday and had all her personal belongings cleared out the next day. He told me that she was indeed heading to DC with her church group for the inauguration and they were leaving by bus on Saturday. She is moving in with her sister until the "program" kicks in.

She's 54 years old, never graduated from high school, and never married. She has worked for his family all her adult life as did her mother and father. She lived in a little house that his grandparents once lived in. He just renovated the house for her a few years back and said it was nice. They gave her a 2004 Tahoe (which they allowed her to take.) They paid for the maintenance and gas on the truck, she fueled it from their operations fuel tank. She had to pay for her own insurance, but they gave her the money for the insurance. Her utilities where paid as well as her food, she shopped for the family and just tagged on what she needed to the shopping trips. They also paid for her medical and dental care. He said she was part of the family. He said losing her was like losing a member of the family. He, his wife, and kids, are worried about her.

A few years back she got into a new church or something and things started to change. He said it was like she got involved in a cult. He paid her a salary, but he thinks she's been giving all or a significant portion to this church. Before she left he tried to reason with her, but she insisted on going. He told her she could come back, but wish she'd stay at least until things panned out with this mystery "program". She told him not to worry because Mr. Obama was going "make economic justice for them all..."

Her sister lives in section 8 housing in a larger town near him, he really seemed worried about her...

As with ANYTHING I read on the internet (or in this case email) I take it with a HUGE grain of salt. However, I have personally talked to some court clerks and have heard from more than one source that several people are asking the courts if they can delay payment of fines for a few weeks. Not because of a tax return or anything, but specifically because they are expecting a check from Obama....

I was in the parade. So if anyone saw the section representing the Navy reserve, you saw me in the front row.

Anyone watch it today? I watched it with my boyfriend and I like Pres. Obama did a great job with his speech. It was eloquent, simple, and discussed what his plans are for the future. My boyfriend said it was a great fluff speech, but I don't think it was all fluff. I really want to get a transcript of his speech to read it over again. What did you guys think?

I like Obama, and I agree it was a fluff speech. The time will come when Obama will have to explain his plans to everyone (State of the Union address) so I guess we'll have to wait then. But knowing earlier would be nice too :p

Holy shit our Economy ISN'T FIXED YET! time to start bashing Obama...

Please someone PLEASE tell me more about this monthly stipend I will be receiving personally from President Obama. I don't understand WHY someone would even believe this crap without some supporting evidence. Like, you know how we got a LETTER IN THE MAIL when we were about to get Stimulus Checks and the IRS also issued several statements about them.

Maybe people are a little confused by the various "Economic Stimuli" that are being voted on and implemented. The word is being a little overused and I think people are starting to see those words and immediately think "free money!" I wish the larger part of our populace would do a little more to be educated about such things rather than taking a leap of faith just because we have a new president. NO I will not quit my job. NO I will not start spending money I don't have in hopes that the president will "bail me out." And NO I will not start advising others to do anything similar. Sometimes people just hope for something so much that when they hear about it, they want to believe it, so they do.

That Economic Stimulus credit for taxes? Yeah... I got all of $300. Not a life-altering amount of money...

In honor of President Obama's inauguration:

I about cried when Willy jumped over the rocks and Slaw ripped off his shirt to reveal the Superman S.

Too bad we dont have the reputation system, you woulda got a TON of hits right there.

The speech was mostly just more of the same thing we've been hearing from him all along. Thing only thing that irritated me was the reverend. That guy is a crazy racist.
