Price drops anytime sooon?

[Zethren]

any word?

[Lanien]

Nothing official.

[Tyrath]

They said at E3 the 80 gig will be $400 in September. Thats the same price as 40gig currently

[Kurgon]

No they are taking the 40GB, with no PS2 backwards compatibility, and putting an 80GB hard drive in there. It isn't the current 80GB PS3 for $100 less.

This. They discontinued the 80GB model back in february, all they've been selling these last 5 months have been the 40GB models.

[Firestreak]

There's the MSG4 model too.

[Bajaratt]

The MGS4 is the "new" 80GB model, just with MGS4 packaged in, isn't it?

[Firestreak]

Has BC I think.

[Kurgon]

The MGS4 bundle 80 GB PS3 has software backwards compatibility from all I've heard.

[Lanien]

Yeah, current 80gig i.e. MGS4 bundle is backwards compatible.
