Ya'll aint gonna believe this shit!

So there I was lfp in Kazham for my Ranger at about 8pm CST. Suddenly a system message pops up: blah blah blah Holloween ( yeah go figure they misspelled it) is in full swing have fun blah blah blah. So the Halloween events started I gather. I'm listening to peeps in my LS talking about whats going on which makes me kinda want to run and see what is going on.

After partying for a bit. I decide the curiosity in me gets the upper hand and I decide to Tele-Dem and choco over to Bastok. Well I get there and see all kinds of folks chasing these spirit things. Major Fucking lag here UGH! So like a conformist I decide to take part in chasing these fucking things around for an hour or so. ( I bought 2 stacks of pies at the AH in Kazham) I get my trick staff right off the get go.. I'm stoked. so i keep going chasing those fuckers around and around. DAMN YOU SQUARE.

They (Square) must be laughing their asses off at making us do this it is evil very evil. What is worse is the Price gouging. I go to the AH to get some more sweets and low and behold the fucking prices on shit went up 500%. WTF!!?!!??!?!?!?! Are people that low to turn what is supposed to be a fun event for all into just a way to make a profit? There is something seriously wrong with doing this. It basically fucks anyone from a fun event just because some jackass is wanting to make more gil. I really don't understand why people are doing this it sickens me. And how can anyone really justify it?

ACK! Gotta go back to work. To be continued.

Unfortunately, when event time comes, people find the best ways at making money. I feel bad because I would take advantedge of this if I could. But I just don't know how to really go about it at this time.

What I'd recommend is DO NOT BUY from the AH. Since there's already a thread in General saying that, at least I can repeat it. You can get buy with buying cheapie little things such as kazham pineapples and such. However, I'm thinking there's probably a system as to how this even works. (just haven't figured it out yet).

This is just like the Easter Egg hunt where people were charging crazy amounts for the eggs, and in afterwards, the silly drops.

Or when greedy galkas were charging for their services to do the Summerfest event. People are just going to find ways at making money. You have the choice whether or not to buy from them right? To be honest, I bought a stack of apple pies yesterday for 4k without flinching and then I realized. WTF? 4k???? So I got scammed because of my stupidity...but with so few ways to make legit money in the game (easily), I can't blame people for taking advantage of this. lol

Yes. And you would to. :D No one is twisting your arm here. I am going to wait till the chaos calms down and pick mine up.

BTW, I don't do Cooking.

Just get grapes from san d vendor. Then Zone in and out while trading with npc.

Yeah. The egg thing was horrible. I mean, you're supposed to be trading the eggs, and instead people were selling them. It bugged me. Same thing with the Tarut card quest. I see lots of people selling the cards, when you're really supposed to trade them. I gave my extra card away to someone who was collecting them, "Just because they're cool". This is also bad, but luckily there are vendors who will sell you some of this stuff for cheap.

Every time I see a card in a bazaar, it's for 99 million gil. I think it's more "Advertising", as in "If you need this card, send me a /tell.

Otherwise, it's called capitalism. Deal with it. ^_^

How is it my fault if people are more then willing to by sweets for a 250% mark up? If they where smart and payed atention they would know exactly where I bought my Gob. Choclate. Also they would know to buy fruit from NPC vendors. Luckily for me people in general are gullibale and panicky. The proof? The fact that I made 100k profit last niggt drom my bazaar. I did not hold a gun up to thier heads to buy from me, infact I just sat thier wondering if my crazy idea would work.

Effects of pure Capitalism: more Money = more Power, I have 2 Dollars, you have 1 Dollar, hence I am Superior in Power.

Capitalism is about as removed from a Democracy as it gets. And it is even farther removed from Justice.

But, I am ranting. The People selling Easter Eggs and Quest Items for Summerfest Suck !!
They must have screwed their First Partner out of his/her item and are continuing to screw other people. SE makes these Events accesible to everyone and tries to make it fair. What the Playerbase does with it, that's a different Story. The Good Thing about that was that bought Quest Items didn't work, because you were missing the Key Item, hehehe.

I forgot who said it, but hey said it the best when it comes to FFXI,

"Greed before need"

P.S I want Treat Staff II and Horror Head II!!!

Wouldn't that also apply to Gil Sellers?

touche.

I just get annoyed by all the complaints. Gil Sellers are ruining the game. People charge too much for things, but its ok to over charge when I am on the receiving end. Under-Cutting isn’t right because I can’t sell my items anymore. And so on and so on.

Just a note I’m under cutting prices for Pineapples in Bastok.

How can he buy eggs in Malta for seven cents apiece and sell them back for five cents apiece and make a profit?
Sorry, that's probably an unwarranted quote, but I think it's fitting.

150k and counting

What's to get upset over? This is simple supply and demand. Demand skyrocketed while supply remained near constant, thus prices have to rise to match the prices otherwise it would be an instant sell out (and you would still be upset about having nothing to buy). When demand rises only two things can happen, either price goes up (such as this case) or supply increases (or a mix between the two). While I imagine supplies did increase as crafters made more food, I doubt it matched the increase in demand, thus prices had to rise to match.

Given the fact there are lots of npc merchants around also selling items you could use at set prices, it is really just a matter of you being to lazy to look anywhere besides the ah. (Imagine Wal-Mart jacking up their prices and still getting customers because some people are too lazy to look else where and it is so convient to get everything from one place.)

Someone has had economics 101! /cheer

Very true very true.

I suppose in one (rather distorted) way, it could. However, I'm talking about in-game actions that are allowed by the TOS, as opposed to meta-game actions specifically prohibited by the TOS. It's like comparing the price of bread to the price of crack.

So everybody buying what they want isn't democratic? Earning what one wants isn't just?

This right here is why I hate Karl Marx. Not for the obvious evil of Communist Russia or China, but for the insidious beliefs which seem to infect even those who otherwise seem intelligent.

Just a general comment about economics, both socialist and capitalist economies are founding in very good beliefs that are meant to better the people. The real problem is neither system has enough checks or balances, thus allowing it to be easily corrupted and manipulated.

I resent that remark. There is nothing that could be considered a "redeeming feature" to communism/socialism. (And yes, I've read the Communist Manifesto.)

The scientific community, Worker Unions, the Open Source Community are all based on Socialism. Socialism was not created by the communist. Communism is a form of socialism corrupted by the communists, but when you look more in-depth it is more a monarchy system, rather than a Socialist system. Welfare is a form of Socialism created inside of our democracy, which I agree has failed. Even our own federal government pay role system is based on Socialism.

Socialism is all around you and you take part in it, does not mean you are a communist or accept the communist views. The essential idea and goal of Socialism is to abolish money and greed from the world, so all people are equal. The same goal that democracy originally had, but it too has fallen victim to the corruption of money.
