Price Gouging in the Auction House

I'm pissed the fuck off now because I've been saving up my money to buy some new gear for my white mage. I have saved up 500k and was hoping to be able to buy a Jungle Stone soon. I go to look and thanks to reselling items at higher prices over and over to theirself, someone has raised the price to TWO FUCKING MILLION! I go to look at some RSE 2 because i'll be coming up on it soon and thought I'd get some MP+ gear. Well the Gaiters have gone from 800k to 1 million thanks to the same person's scheme. The items that are being effected are items that Mithra Mages need which mean's I'm fucked because as fast as I can make money, the items increase in price even faster. >_<

does anyone else ever feel like the price always goes *down* when you put something up for auction, and never up? you check the price history for something and it's 5000. So you put it up there for 5000, or 4999, or 4900 or whatever and it never sells, b/c it has dropped to like 3900? then you go back and check it a week after yours sold and it has jumped up to 8000? i hate that crap.

Same thing has happened to me. I went out bought a new axe to replace my Platoon axe. They were selling for around 5k. I put up in the AH came a day later and find out that someone bought it for 1,000 gil. It happened again today as well. I sold a bronze cap in AH, the were all going for about 100 gil until the last one. The last one went for 50 gil, so i wasn't expecting much anyway, but minutes later, some guy picked it up for 11 gil and was selling it in his bazzar for 100. Bloody reatrded.

I know its been beaten with a stick over and over, but the fact that gil prices have droped( under $100 for a million gil) more people will start to buy it. And as more people have more gil they will pay the higher prices. This is just like how Ultima Online used to be when it started up. Gold sold for $250 USD for a mil and when I left it was selling for $10 - $15 USD a mil. I know not everyone will pay cash for gil but keep an eye on what the online prices of it are. And I will bet you that as the price drops online the prices of items on the AH will rise. Just like in life if everyone carried $1,000,000 in there wallet at a time you could expect to pay $10,000 for a pack of smokes, $2,000 for a candy bar, etc etc etc...

Currently this game and most MMORPG games if a player buys something its usually from another players keeping the same gil/gold/cash in the hands of the players. As it accumulates it will cause inflation = higher prices becuse everyone has game money to buy.

What this game needs are some more "Gil sinks" IE.. hour glasses for dynamis (1 million gil), jeuno tax. We need more NPCs to sell items or do something for the people who have large amounts of gil to help pull the extra out of the econemy. In ultima online they added "Hair stylest" NPCs and for the cost of 50k-1mil you could have your hair style changed or colored. In Ashrons Call if you owned a house you had to pay a weekly upkeep fee / rent. More stuff like this is needed here whille at the same time not to efect the people who barly manage to get by.

In the end it will hurt the new players who will be almost certin to buy gil to get started because that beeswax spatular they want is selling for 50k and they only start out with 100 gil.

The biggest problem is that many high-end NM drop items are going up in price, while easily obtainable farmed items are staying the same or dropping in value. So not only do you need more gil to get that item you want, but said gil becomes harder to obtain.

For example, I used to do excavating for gil. On a good run I could pull in 20-30K an hour, mostly off chicken bones, which sold for 12K a stack. Well, those chicken bones are now down to 5K a stack. This means I have to excavate for more than twice as long, to get the same amount of gil. Couple that with the fact that many items have doubled in price, and we're looking at four times longer that previously to purchase the items I want. The only items that stay stable are those that can be sold to NPCs or quested- and most of those have 20 bajillion gilfarmers competing with you.

I'm glad I made most of the money I needed early on, and now have a good craft skill to fall back on for gil. That and gardening is how I make 80% of my gil these days.
